Do I buy an upscale TT?
IMO, the turntable is the most important part of the vinyl system. You already have a fine tonearm and cartridge - let them sing! Be sure to audition an air bearing TT, air thrust and air sleeve. Air for both, if you can find one. Once you have h...

My Chinese Quads have better QC than my UK Quads (which I sold). Parts are beginning to fail after 15 years, especially panels exposed to sunlight, but even that, apparently, has been fixed. Political, ethical, economic matters are another discus...

@fpomposo This is an audio forum. Please stick to audio topics and leave your politics at home.

Just took delivery of a Grado Lineage series cartridge. From initial inspection, fit and finish appear to be superior to Koetsu. So obviously it can be done, if the will is there.

My Chinese made Quads are better than the old UK built Quads. But Grado makes some good stuff, can't deny that.
Getting back in the game
Don't spend on cables. Microphone cable like Canare Starquad is good at about $1 a foot or so. Switchcraft RCA's are available for not much. That gets you close to the big money stuff, so you can spend where it really counts. Good luck!

I agree about the importance of dielectric. Of course air is best, but teflon and cross-linked polyester are a good second. The issue with teflon is soldering - if you make up your own, do so outside and at eye level - burning teflon releases HF, ...
Took the lithium ion battery plunge
I agree, @carlsbad . B+ is a real problem for batteries - it’s often 300VDC or more. That governed my choice of technologies: I use aerospace solid state running at +/- 6VDC for phono-pre. One solution is NiCad batteries, which are about 1.3VDC /...

Not everyone uses inverters, @carlsbad , @sns . I choose @rbertalotto 's solution for phono / pre. No inverter, no bridge rectifier, no filter caps, no filter chokes. It's bad enough for amps, where LC-LC-LC-C is good enough for me - that's a Fara...

@thespeakerdude "any better than a medical grade isolation transformer" Yes, but not a great deal. I have a medical grade isolation transformer running a high quality, low voltage DC power supply for my phono and pre. It sounds good - but the bat...

I have used professional recording cables in my systems forever. Mogami is very good, but its shield is not quite as good as Canare Starquad - this will only make a performance difference in an environment rich in radio waves. But Canare is far ha...
Solving the "complex music problem"?
I like air or vacuum capacitors, electrostatic speakers, air bearings in 3D, and Koetsu’s. None of these are cheap, and some are DIY only. But each makes its contribution, as does the room. Digital literally gives me pain. YMMV
World's Best Stereo System ?...
Sorry, no thanks. Even a foreign accent doesn't convince me.
VdH cartridge on heavier tonearm
@petg60 Had no idea that one should divide US compliance figures by 2. That’s VERY useful information. And it explains why the same wand works for a Grado and a Koetsu, which I had failed to understand. THANK YOU!
Cheapest but good cables….
I use Canare Starquad and Mogami IC with Switchcraft and ETI RCA’s in an ESL / analogue system. For speaker cable, consider Goertz, which is flat, and optimal for many magnetic speakers (high capacitance, low inductance). Neither is expensive rela...
