Beethoven Violin Sonatas---favorites and recs Rpeluso...yes. I don't think its available any more. I was led to it by Harry Pearson of "The Absolute Sound". There are many good ones...(I play them well too) however I always gravitate to Kuij
What is my weak link? I suspect power cords will bring a smile, but try before you buy.
Jeff Rowland Synergy's sorbothane feet. Every foot you put under any product will change the sound. There is no correct one.... Experimentation is the key...sometimes it will improve the sound, sometimes not. Most often, it will be a change that you cannot decide about. I made feet a nu...
More turntable set up problems I can almost guarantee its your cartridge. Remove it, send it back to the manufacturer, and have it repaired/replaced.
VPI Scoutmaster and the Audiomods tonearms Gingko can cut out a section of the dust cover if the tonearm doesn't fit...no problem
VPI Classic platter - is center milled? VPI is always experimenting...and I applaud that. Black shrink wrap eliminates some undesirable resonance that may be present in a particular cartridge and is transferred down the tube...minimal sound difference if any...
VPI Classic platter - is center milled? Mine is also the ceramic coated one....in case you're wondering, the ceramic coated and without the coating sounds the same, however, the ceramic coating eliminates the fingerprints and looks better. I don't use a washer, just the anti-static mat ...

Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm Better cartridge
VPI Classic platter - is center milled? The rubber mat that gets static attractive to the record when you lift the record off of the platter has been replaced by a non-attractive rubber mat.
VPI Classic platter - is center milled? Bif....lets see now.... if indeed there is a change to having the spindle area raised, that would mean that with the outer ring and center weight applied, there would be greater tension on the record...more downward force. ..may be a good idea. I ...
Kuzma Four Point compared to SME V-12 tonearm DCTOM - I can't understand how you can say the original LP, and the LPS are close in performance. I hear an enormous difference between the 2 cartridges...the LPS being much, much better. I'm using the VPI printed arm.
VPI Classic platter - is center milled? The classic platter has a depression in its center....it looks like it would accommodate the label of a record. I tried with and without the rubber mat...the rubber mat wins for me. Without it the sound is too - errrr metallic
Anyone know anything about new VPI Classic 3 arm? Hi all....been on vacation...Took a sailing ship to Costa Rica and through the Panama Canal....anyway....yup its shrink wrap. Does eliminate some ringing, which may in some cases can do away with or reduce damping at the pivot. Damping seems to sl...
Turntable upgrade, tweaks, or stay put? Scoutmaster is a good table.... put in a Dyna, Benz, Soundsmith, Ortofon (they all sound different) and smile. |
