Anyone make an "audiophile" USB-RCA interconnect?
USB is a complex digital interface standard, very different from SPDIF, AESEBU or any other audio digital standard. Therefore both ends of the link need a USB tranceiver and therefore both ends of the cable would require termination with a standar...
Good Amp for Spica TC-60 speakers under $1000
I'm using a Densen B-100 with my Spica Angelus and it sounds great. The imaging and microdynamics are better than I've heard on much more expensive systems.
Speaker cable -no shorter than 8FT? T or F
Perhaps Mapleshade have their speakers more than 8ft from the amp, in which case having a speaker cable of less than 8ft would most certainly compromise the sound.
Speaker cable -no shorter than 8FT? T or F
IMHO the shorter the better for speaker cable, UNLESS the amplifier output stage requires a certain amount of inductance for stability (e.g. NAIM).
Your ONE all time favorite love song?
You might think it really cheesy, and somewhat overplayed in its day, but "Everything I own" by Bread was actually written by David Gates for his late father (who died when he was young). With this in mind I think it's an incredibly moving song.
Classic Rock Fans?
I still like AC/DC Powerage. I think that it's my favorite no-frills rock album. There are times when Brahms and Beethoven just won't cut it.
Tweeter replacement recommendations
Try contacting www.madisound.com. They have drivers and probably good advice.
OT: asbestos in vermiculite attic insulation
Dweller, the asbestos shingles and brake pads are not as dangerous because the asbestos is more contained than in the zonolite insulation. For example the vermiculite was also mixed into concrete and sprayed onto buildings (e.g. world trade center...
Open-Minded or Gullible?
Is it the reversing of the fuse, or the fact that the fuse contacts are improved when the fuse is pulled and reinstalled ? When the fuse was put back to its original orientation did the sound get worse ?BTW the air in the listening room breaks in ...
50/60 hz conversion
Can you get a new motor from the manufacturer ? I put a new motor on my rega P3 for about $150 and solved the 220/110 and 50/60 problem in one go.
Deepest Bass in the Known Universe...
Well, to all you bass freaks, on all of my black hole recordings my system can reproduce the midrange of the black hole with great clarity and liquidity and frankly I just dont miss those bottom 250 octaves.
How does power cord affect a digital frontend?
My theory is that with a CDP the primary gains of a good power cord are to prevent noise from being injected back into the 120v system of your house by the CD player. I have an old old CD player. When it is playing interference shows up on my TV. ...
arcam nad kef combo
Sounds like a great combination to me. I'm not sure that there's an obvious weak link. Just depends on the price.
Best way to combine Sub and floor speakers?
Sound wise I doubt it will make any difference. Connecting to separate binding posts may be more convenient. The REL speaker level input is very high impedance, and so will not draw any current (or voltage) away from your main speakers, wherever i...
Table speed
I have a rega planar 3, and I recently installed the motor upgrade (mostly because the old motor was 220v/50Hz and it couldn't be used in US).Now I A/B the rega against my CD player and I cannot hear any speed or pitch difference. I can't remember...
