Just Pulled The Trigger Thanks, guys. I appreciate the advice and support.
Just Pulled The Trigger Bojak ... Thanks for that dose of purported reality.
Just Pulled The Trigger Trust me, GR is a HUGE upgrade over NR. I have heard both and the difference is palpable.
A New Superstar Power Cord $1,824 for a PC? Well, there was a time when I would have been shocked. But, since I just paid $1,450 for a new, 2m run of Cardas Golden Reference bi-wire speaker cable (which is now considered a "legacy product"), I guess I am no longer one to pa...
Thinking About A Change Thanks, Soix. Good advice.
Thinking About A Change You guys are right ... I guess it was the Gear Acquisition Syndrome that got the best of me. Who knows ... maybe the auditions will convince me to stay with my current speakers. Thanks for talking me down.
Musical Fidelity A300 Integrated Not necessarily. Check out this link.http://www.brilliancehifi.co.uk/how-to-bi-wire-speakers.htm
Musical Fidelity A300 Integrated Yes, the Red Dawn did add to brightness. I am bi-wiring with the GF and the results have been good. Look, the N804s inherently are never going to be bass beasts, so you will have to accept that. Nonetheless, bi-wiring them brings out a nice, tunef...
Musical Fidelity A300 Integrated The N804s are a bit lean in the bass, although I agree that the Golden Reference cables should make a big difference; I use 'em and really like them. I have never liked the sound of Nordost cables with Musical Fidelity or B&W. Also, you may wa...
Thinking About A Change No, I haven't heard them. Spec-wise, they seem to fit the bill ... ribbon tweeter, good bass, and great midrange. The only thing lacking in the N804s is a more robust bass, although it is tuneful and not overpowering. I guess I could try a subwoof...
Musical Fidelity A300 Integrated No, no no. I own the N804s, and they are meant to be "bi-wired," NOT bi-amped. The A300 should provide plenty of power to drive the N804s.
Amplifier upgrade or speaker upgrade IMHO, the maxim sh#t in, sh#t out holds true. Your speakers will reflect only what is fed to them. So, if the upgrade to your power amp will be significant, then I would upgrade the amp. Just my $0.02. Good luck.
XLR to RCA Adapter Dilemma Unfortunately, my amp is not at all balanced, and I'm not looking to replace it since I like it just fine, and would rather save the dough. So, for now, it's adapter city for me. I may just contact Signal Cable and inquire about custom adapters. T...
Problem with toggle switch on Magnum Dynalab tuner Thanks for the advice. I popped the top, but all connections were tight. So, I thought to clean the contacts of the switch. A little Kontak and ... voila, it works like a charm. Sometimes, it's the simplest things that require correction.
XLR to RCA Adapter Dilemma Also, to Elizabeth ... thanks for validating that practical application can trump theory. For a minute there, I was beginning to doubt myself because the theorists maintained that what I was hearing was simply impossible. I feel much better now. |
