B&W CDM 9NT vs 804's
I prefer the 804s over the CDM 9NT ... the CDM's bass is particularly boomy and the Nautilus tweeter, IMHO, is a marked improvement in all areas. The price difference is worth it. However, I found little difference between the 804s and the 803s - ...

Badfinger
asdf: I think the original was written in B major, a relatively difficult key in which to play. IMO, try taking it up a half-step to C major to make it a breeze. Look at http://www.fretplay.com/tabs/b/badfinger/baby_blue-tab.shtml
PS Audio 500 questions
If you look on AA in the PS Power Forum, there's a discussion about the company now putting a heatsink in the P500 to address this issue. I'm sure they'll retrofit it for you.
Tuner/MD 108 Question
My old MD-102 was probably the first one they saw exhibiting the exact same symptoms ... despite great signal strength, stereo was tough to get. I e-mailed Larry Zuroowski, MD's President, shipped back the tuner (at his expense) and received a bra...
Rotel vs Musical Fidelity
I use B&W N804s and started out with Rotel, then stepped up to MF gear. As for a pre-amp, I think you'd be best served with a tube pre. I'm using a BAT VK-3i and the sound is glorious. They go for about $1,300 on the 'Gon, so it's within your ...
Stereophile confirms new gear is getting worse....
I've got to agree with Trelja. There's simply no reason for the Hovland or any other really expensive piece of gear to be deficient in these basic areas. Granted, Hovland is a small outfit, so economies of scale are really non-existent, thereby dr...
XLR to RCA conversion
I'm running a single ended Cardas Golden Reference IC from my CD (MF Nu-Vista) to my pre-amp (BAT VK-3i). The MF has only single ended connections and the BAT has both SE and balanced. When I tried SE to SE, the sound was OK, but then I tried SE (...
The Best Audio Dealer
I recommend three: Kevin Deal from Upscale, Jimmy and Mario fro Toys From the Attic, and Dan from Dedicated Audio. These guys are all terrific and have helped me get the sound I want without pressure. They are all a pleasure to deal with.
BAT VK-3i vs. VK-3ix
Interesting. I am not enamoured of the SE series ... I find the super-tube to be harsh and clinical sounding. Also, there's no opportunity to tube roll. I spoke to BAT today and they said the 3iX is an upgrade over the 3i IF I go for the BAT-PAK a...
B&W 804 with ???
I'm using the N804s with a BAT VK-3i. A very, VERY sweet sound ... you won't be sorry.
under $300 bookshelfs: does excitement exist?
For about $350 (including shipping) you can get yourself a pair of Acoustic Energy 300Cs. These speakers rock and have excellent bass response, rolling off at about 45Hz.
Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista 300 & B&W Nautilus 803
I think you'd be doing OK if you could find an MF A300cr amp (225 wpc). I think there's one up for sale here for about $1,600. I'm using one with my N804s and the sound is awesome.
Interconnects for 3D CD
I'm running Cardas Golden Reference ICs from my Nu-Vista and they sound fabulous. A full, robust and detailed sound without being overly warm. Expensive? Yes. But, based on my auditions of IC too numerous to mention, well worth the price.
Musical Fidelity Nu Vista CD vs. Cary 306/200 CD
I had a Cary 303/200 and tried it direct into the amp. In a word, it was AWFUL! I'm currently running the Nu-Vista into a BAT VK-3i pre-amp and the sound is awesome. Quite wonderful, really.
