What to do with broken McIntosh Pre-Amp
I asked about the sources ( cd player, streamer, turntable, etc. ) because many sources produce enough voltage output, to drive the power amp to full power ( not that you will drive it to full power output, and a turntable would need the gain of a...
Active pre-amp for “difficult” music (fusion)
I use a passive, Luminous Audio Axiom II with Walker Mod, 3 in, 2 out ( single ended ), with remote, and it is the cleanest I have had in years. Bested some excellent preamps I owned.

Audio, as a hobby, is expensive. What is the problem with the MX114 ? What are your sources ? What is your commitment to getting music out of the Klipsch / Mac combo ?
You've tried other amps and ended with Pass, please discuss
mcreyn, why can’t you stand the way Wilsons sound ? Eric, a second time, why is it that Pass amps are not to your liking ? I am going back to his Threshold days...Eric, you are not so different than Georgie boy. We will see where this thread goes,...
You've tried other amps and ended with Pass, please discuss
Erik, please do not take offense. Knowing you do not " favor " amplifiers designed by Pass , why do you, instead, give reasons of your dissatisfaction for them, as you have stated over and over again in your posts. How many different models have y...
tube pre-amp for active monitors
Have you tried various positions of the speakers ? Are they close to a wall, on a desk, or are they on stands, away from reflective surfaces ? Forget an inexpensive preamp, whether tube or ss, as it is not needed.
Would a pair of Klipsch R-41M demand to much of an Onkyo R-805X?
An amplifier generally puts out more power into 4 ohms, and since the Onkyo is measured at 4 ohms, the impedance of the Klipsch will not be a problem. However, the Onkyo will likely have less power into the Klipsch, which should still be fine. Dep...
I need some techy help in order a preamp--resistor values.
I am using a Luminous Audio Walker Mod Axiom II, and I feel it is invisible...meaning, I do not hear it. It works well with every source I have, as well as all of my amplifiers in my collection. If additional gain is not needed, passive is the way...
Anyone heard Schiit's Aegir?

Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Frank, so what you are saying, if I am understanding correctly; you, as the listener, have moved back a few rows from the stage, and you are still hearing finer details in the musicianship......I would say that is pretty impressive.
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
I have always bypassed the speaker protection fuses on amplifiers, with the exact same response quoted by that P.S.Audio guy, as I do not remember his name. Why should I ?,  because he does not know how anything works. Kidding, of course, about no...
Which stereo amp to try under $30k
I need to ask the obvious question. What do you feel you are not getting from your Mc 452 ? And as part of this same question...What do you want more of, less of ? Your Mc actually fits your " guidance ", but admittedly, I do feel there is better....
Forte 1A or Threshold 400A
400 A ...but did you contact Steve McCormack about replacing your boards, and upgrading other aspects of the design....very musical....I know it is too late ( as you sold it ), but, am interested to know. I ask, because, I was in the same situatio...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Not everyone can hear a fuse difference, nor, have never even tried it. So the few who troll the idea, as there will always be those few, we fuse guys, just need to move on, and try extracting every last bit of detail through our systems.....It is...
