Who needs a Preamp??
Assuming all impedance and voltages are matched, passive is superior in sq, to me, at least. However, I feel it might come down to the recordings, themselves. My highest quality recordings, shine, and the extra gain stage, those I have heard, obsc...
Who needs a Preamp??
Luminous Audio makes one.....
Help with hookup
The puzzling thing about all of this is, the power amp meters are responding to the signal from the preamp, so, the amp is receiving signal. It needs to be at the power amp, somewhere, or, the speakers themselves. I am with twoleftears and yogiboy...
What would be involved in updating Hersey II’s to Hersey IV’s?
It is my understanding that the woofer in the new Heresy model IV will be different than that in the earlier models, because of the now, ported enclosure. I am down to 1 pair of Heresy IIs, as I have had several pairs of the Heresys, and although ...
Onkyo Vintage Receiver TX 2500
@rocky1313. I do not know why you needed to start another thread. Teo_audio, on your 1st thread, answered your question, and I agree with him.......
Toshiba TX 2500 Vintage Receiver question
@teo_audio......Thank you, as you are correct about the model numbers, and correct, about units without relays at the output stage, which is why I indicated the " majority ", and not " all ". Always, and Enjoy ! MrD.
Help with hookup
As the meters on the mc352 are responding to the signal from the preamp, I suspect " it " is at the amp end. What are the speaker wire connections you are using, both at the amp end and the speaker end ? If you are using bare wire, make sure enoug...
Toshiba TX 2500 Vintage Receiver question
Are you hearing a thump through your speakers at turn on ? My understanding is, the majority of Japanese built, as well as Taiwan, Singapore and China built receivers, used speaker output relays, the relay you are not hearing. I would not worry ab...
New Preamp arrived....
I appreciate those that find an active preamp, the end all to great sound. I have experienced passive devices for many years, but until I received my Luminous Axiom II, Walker modded unit, it was either / or for me. I am not trying to be a shill h...
THE NEW POLK LEGEND SERIES
Burn in is very real....Why are people here, still responding to kenjit ?
JADIS DEFY7, can not get it to sing
I do not understand one thing you say. " I can not stand a warm sound ". Tubes add warmth. Yes, some designs, some tubes, more than others, but, they all, do, add warmth, even the mega dollar units. I choose to not use tubes, for that very reason....
Help with hookup
@fortin, your original post indicated the " m " before the c2300. The mc2300 is a power amp, which is why the question was asked. Now that we have that out of the way, describe to us the hook up, please, so we can help you.
Klipsch, introduces The Cornwall IV, and I think it will be a killer !
The mid horn in the Cornwall IV is larger than that of the Forte III. My 1st Klipsch speaker that I owned ( before my bar mitzvah ), was the CW, using vertical mid and tweet horns. I modded them as much as I could, and, they were amazing.....These...
NUPRIME EVOLUTION ONE-BEST CLASS D AMP ON THE MARKET
@audiozen , back in the day, I sold, and installed, Spectral gear, as well as owning a few pieces. What I have not experienced, was a Spectral preamp driving another branded amp, and vis a versa. Always paired together. Also, only with MIT cables ...
NUPRIME EVOLUTION ONE-BEST CLASS D AMP ON THE MARKET
@audiozen , there is something to be said about an audio product having a heavy, massive chassis. Yes, it costs money....but like a tube, a flimsy chassis can have vibrational issues, both mechanically, and acoustically, that might not be measurab...
