How much do I need to spend to get a preamp that sounds better than no preamp? George , I tried to PM you, w/o success. If you could PM me, that would be great. I have had a few passives, but none were exceptional. The particular room and system I would be using it in would be : CD, mostly redbook, modified Sony SACD player,...
Interconnects and non-believers Not a new thread of this topic, again ( and yes, there are differences ). Sheesh........Enjoy ! MrD.

What speakers would be an upgrade from my klipsch la scallas and my Klipsch Chorus Where are you located, as I will buy, for the right price, your Lascalas. I guess from your other thread, you are not interested in doing the midhorn damping ? Too Bad, as it is very significant in how this cleans things up. Maybe try a smaller, h...

How much do I need to spend to get a preamp that sounds better than no preamp? The chassis seems to be used for several pieces of equipment, including amplification, so maybe it is economical ? I like the looks of the heatsinks. @georgehifi I might be ready to try an LDR unit, so what do you think ? Enjoy ! MrD.
Best place to get an old solid state amp fixed up? @hammy1750, as a newbie here, welcome. Someone on USAudiomart is selling one for ( says working fine ) for $250, with external ps. Another recently just sold at $350., in mint condition. It is your money, but I am advising you to take the loss and...
How much power can a pair of Klipsch La Scalas take ? As I stated in my earlier post, back in 1970, Klipsch used metal mid horns, which, at a louder volume, would ring and resonate. I believe this is what you are responding to. I suggest Dynamat, or another type of damping material, to dampen the out...
Best place to get an old solid state amp fixed up? I would work with the shop that repaired it, since you obviously paid them. How much do you want to invest to get it " like new ", since it went up in flames ?
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what? Dampening the midhorns will not only rid the H-111s of the slight chestiness you speak of, but the lower resonant, less vibratory and cleanliness of the mid horn will clean up the entire speaker. I promise. Enjoy ! MrD.
How much power can a pair of Klipsch La Scalas take ? I am always rotating power amps through my Lascalas. My Yamaha pro amps have a red led indicator per channel that show when 1/2 watt has been reached, and it is plenty loud for me. At the level the OP is listening, there are many areas of the Lasc...
Your Side by Side Experience With Best Vintage vs Newer Expensive Hi Tech Speakers I agree, and if I were able to build a special room specifically to accommodate the Khorns ( room corners become part of the doghouse ), and then get rid of some of the other room corner " problems ", I would own a pair. Some of the best systems I...
New D'Agostino Monoblocks...$250,000 Some people will buy an Aiwa mini system for a couple hundred bucks. This might be a budget thing, or, they are happy listening to music through it because.........., wait for it,.......they are not us. These ( the DD amps ), are for the wealthy. ...
"Bookshelf" speakers designed to be placed near the wall behind them? Klipsch Heresy 3. Read the many positive reviews. A fun, musical speaker.
New D'Agostino Monoblocks...$250,000 @michaelgreen............Ditto ! Enjoy ! MrD. |
