What does she want more of / What does she seem to be missing ( imaging, coherence, neutral tone, dynamics, etc. ? What music does sh...
Pro Amps - What have you tried? @erik_squires to each his own. Through my ML CLS at the time I owned the Andromeda, I did not like the combo as much as with other amplifiers. Did not like it through the Lascalas either, tubes were preferable with them. It was a good mating with...
Well now... 400$ Mark Levinson amp new... I cannot recall who and when, but someone here on the Gon said in an earler thread that he had bought, and was using, the Chinese DarTZeel amp, and it was the best he had ever had.
Pro Amps - What have you tried? 2 of my favorite amplifiers are a Smart Theatre Systems TA 242 ( modified ), and a Yamaha P 2160 ( modified ). Both sounding different, as the STS is a mosfet / Hafler design. Both sound excellent with my Klipsch Lascalas ( modified ). They " foll...

Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce? @jdliguori, please do not do it here, as there are too many snake oil threads already ( which I am a contributor ). Enjoy the Jack Johnson, as it is awesome ! Always, MrD.
Cable Snake Oil Antidote I am not sure why I bother posting. 45 + years in this hobby, and I have learned to use, and trust, my ears. I never needed anyone to " sell me " on anything. The naysayers and trolls continue to do what they do, but most of them never have exper...
Alternatives to Klipsch for efficient/very efficient sub-$300 listening speakers? Floor standing / bookshelf ? Room / speaker / listener setup ? Musical tastes ? Loudness level ? Used Heresys or Fortes as suggestions.
Klipsch Heresy Speakers Circa 1976 ...Type HDBR Dampen the mid horns ( from the rear ), as this makes a substantial improvement throughout the entire speaker. Look up " horn dampening in speakers ".
Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce? @glow_worm, I am assuming you are a Miles Davis fan, as am I. A real test for any speaker ( system really ) and an awesome musical experience is Miles's " A Tribute To Jack Johnson ". Could be my favorite of his ( although he has an amazing librar...
Inexpensive Tube Amps will62 has not shown up for a while, as I suppose a few of us hurt his feelings.......
What's Your Take on This ? I owned an original 535 ( as well as other Adcom models ), and purchased a series 2, which had many upgrades ( circuitry ), including better rca inputs, speaker binding posts ( and eliminating the speaker switching ), and to my knowledge, heavily ...
Vandersteen 3A Sigs vs Klipsch Forte III The Lascala II has taken care of many of the weaknesses of the original. Thicker, less resonant cabinet ( especially noticeable with the doghouses ), upgraded crossover components, upgraded wire, etc. But, even the series II can be improved, but, ...
Which component to upgrade? I will say from experience, if the speaker is selected as the weakness, hopefully, speaker / room / listener positioning has been optimized, and room acoustics dealt with as much as possible before making a change.
Vandersteen 3A Sigs vs Klipsch Forte III +1 Phil......When set up properly, the Lascalas can disappear, giving you that height, width and depth of a soundstage. But more importantly, it is that "effortless" quality you hear at a live performance. A buddy of mine owns some top of the line... |
