NAD 3155 Pops when turned off That's normal for older NADs. Have to just live with it. Just make sure the volume control is at 0 and should not pose any problems for the speakers.
Speakers for Bryston I previously used a BP26/3bsst to drive Aerials (6 and 7b). Great combo.
Conrad Johnson ET3, Mystere CA21 or Prima Luna Pre The Mystere and Prima Luna Dialogue line are 'essentially' the same. The PL prologue series is a step down for sure.I've heard both the Mystere and Prima Luna products - very nice I must say, although probably 'average' at their price point. I hav...

Monster Home Theater Power Center? I used to have an old API wedge conditioner which seemed worse than plugging directly into the wall when I dug it out of the closet recently. Sold it and got a PS audio duet. Much better.... The quintet costs a little more if you have more than 2 ...
Thoughts about the new MacMini & Lion OS I've been running Lion with iTunes and PureMusic for a few hours now. No problems - sound quality unchanged as far as I can tell.
Thoughts about the new MacMini & Lion OS I just downloaded Lion to my iMac. I don't see any obvious impact with iTunes 4 which downloads also. But there may be something lurking below the surface?

Advice for friend putting together a surround sys. Have a look at the NAD T747 (around $600) and a Totem Dreamcatcher set ( 5 speakers and sub). Would be great for music also.Alternatively, you could piece together a set of speakers used, as long as the front 3 match. Too many choices to even begi...
Help with system overhaul What would you do.... Typically it makes sense to go with speakers first - agreed. However, depending on your situation (ie., when your amp is already outclassed), might make sense to deviate from the rule, especially if you are not planning on starting over from scratc...
Help with system overhaul What would you do.... Roger, I think you are looking at speakers that outclass your HT receiver, by a lot.Personally, I'd be inclined to upgrade your HT receiver first, then decide on a speaker upgrade if necessary. Speaker choice is a personal thing, but whatever you ...
Killer Kitchen System under $800 or so? My wife is using a Teac Reference mini all in one (CD, Internet radio, integrated) in her office that costs about $500 . Quite impressive for the price. A cheap used DAC and a pair of speakers and you are ready to go.
Sub woofer that excels at the mid bass wanted I'm using a Velodyne Optimum 8 and crossing over at 100hz. Works very well for me.
tv as a pre-amp? In practise it will work. In all likelihood it will sound terrible as the pre-amp in the TV is likely worth about $1.50. ANY outboard pre-amp will be much better. But give it a shot and see what happens - it won't hurt anything. |
