Question about streamer to "serve" 2 systems
How about some Bluesound Node’s?I use them to connect my office (2nd floor) to my main system (LR 1st floor). They use wireless connections. The newest model can utilize the 5ghz band. (But, added a Netgear adapter to-utilize the 5ghz network-to my...
Turntable problem
Sounds like the motor is shot. If it is new, it should be under warranty.B

Dual vs single sub
Your subs should be capable of shaking s++t. How large is your room? Speakers, Amp, etc.?B
Is there an affordable long run XLR preamp to amp cable out there?
I needed a long run (25 feet) and Ralph at Atma-Sphere sold me a set at a very decent price.B
new equipment power conditioner or more powerful amp?
I would add a dedicated line first. It shouldn't cost very much, either.Bob
Wilson Watt Puppy 7
Get a pair of McCormack amps and have them upgraded. SMc Audio can just about anything. And, you could do a lot with $5K.Bob
Bookshelf Recommendations
Well, if you are mounting on stands, why not get floor standing speakers?A pair of Vandy 1ci's wouldn't take a much of a larger footprint.- And, when coupled with a pair of subs, I think you would be approaching a truly high end system.B
Bookshelf Recommendations
+1 for Vandy VLR's.I owned a pair of Zu Omen Bookshelves, but the Vandies leave them in the dust.Bob
Is There a Speaker for Me/Impossible Requirements? (budget: $2000)
@OP,Vandy's sound good at just about any sound level.Someone recommended the 1ci's. I would also recommend the VLR's.I have them in my office, mounted near the ceiling (my desk is almost underneath them)with a pair of Hsu subs.I find them very lis...
Technology in speakers....
@OP, Another Vandy nut here.Quatro's, would be my choice- unless I had a huge room.I own the Treo's with a pair of 2wq subs- so I have about 85% of a Quatro.Bob
Spotify for classical music lovers
I ended up going to Quobuz. Higher rez and a pretty complete catalog.Spotify seems to have the edge, but Quobuz is pretty close to having everything.B
bluesound/network audio noob question here - can you play files in two places?
You need to buy a Node. Probably best to contact Bluesound directly. Yes, they do pick up the phone.I only have Nodes, and no Vault, so I can't say exactly. But, at worst you would need 2 Nodes. Even the original Node (not 2 or 2i) will network wi...
Mono blocks or bia amp
Monoblocks let you use shorter speaker cables, so they aren't affecting sound as much as longer ones.Monoblocks are also easier to set up than vertical biamping (using one amp for high frequencies and one for lower)-which is what I think you are r...
Dealer Behavior
I, too, got my initial experience during the late 70's-early 80's, and my experience mirrors yours.I was very happy to find Audiogon and USAM as a way to buy used equipment without the dealer. But I have to say I did get to meet with a really nice ...
