Finding the right tube preamp (input values) for Mccormack DNA
@yogiboy ,+1When in doubt, call Steve at SMcAudio. I think they will confirm Yogiboy's advice.FWIW, a used Atma Sphere UV-1 would be a nice match.B
What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
I, for one, wouldn't consider a serviced item to be a negative. Quite the contrary. If I am selling something, and find an issue, I will have it corrected before selling. If a buyer finds the need to have an unserviced unit, then he/she should buy ...
Waiting for payment...
I would contact Tammy at Agon and get her take on this. I,too, have had a rejected counteroffer where the buyer conceded. Though, they paid up promptly. From what I remember, if the buyer accepts, then he/she is bound to an agreement to buy.Whateve...
Recommendation about speakers with limited space behind
I owned the Zu Omen Bookshelves. They are good speakers, but the Vandy VLR's replaced them...No comparison.Looking at them, you wouldn't think they would be as good as they are.Smaller, lighter, but they are much better.I like and respect Zu, but ...
Recommendation about speakers with limited space behind
My first suggestion would be to try to audition as many speakers as you can, so that you can find one that gives you what you like/remember.Like you said, the speakers you remembered were from the '80's, tech has advanced considerably since then. ...
Flexible power cord for Ayre Codex
I am using AQ Thunder Powercords with my Codex. That cord is one of the most unwieldy I have ever found. To tame it, I use a right angle connector at the input.I also use a cradle made for the Codex which did not cost much.I can PM you details.Bob
Cat 5, 5a, 6, 6a, etc
Ughh, I got to page 3 and gave up.B
Cat 5, 5a, 6, 6a, etc
Thanks Al.I was just wondering if I should upgrade the ethernet cable from my ONT box to my router, and the cable from the router to my Memory Player Mini. That is one long thread, so maybe the answer is in the remaining pages.B
Less Loss Firewall 64x Module
I would be interested in opinions, as well.Judging from the prices, I would wait for reviews. And, those USB filters daisy-chained/interconnected like that, make me wonder if one unit would do anything or if used multiply, would start degrading th...
Network cabling for BlueSounds' Node 2i Network server
@jea48 ,What are your thoughts regarding Cat 5, 6, 6a?Is it worth it to go to 6a or Cat 7 or 8?I am confounded by the choices when related to audio.ThanksBob
Streaming music- not the end all music solution but one main advantage?
@mental ,I own the original Nodes, and when I asked Bluesound, they said it made no difference in sound quality if I used an external DAC.The one big difference between the Node 1/2 and the new 2i is the ability to use the 5ghz wifi band. I did a ...
Zu audio
@teleworm,My experience mirrors yours.B
Qobuz on Bluesound in the U.S.?
Very good.My Bluesound app seems to have some gliches.Spotify, Deezer and now Quobuz have issues of skipping tracks.Bluesound is trying to find the issue, but it seems to be something beyond their capabilities.Bob
Speaker Cables and Carpet
Any way you can go under the floor?I run my interconnects through my basement ceiling to the opposite end of the room.Bob
Recommendation on power amp
@OP,I own the original MX-R's (non twenty), and find them to be quite good (paired with Vandy Treo's). I have no experience with KEF Blades, so I can't help you there, but I can't see any problem with using the Ayre with them.Bob
