Dedicated 20 amp circuit - Electrician laughed!
I had the Romex wire from some long ago project on the basement shelf. I knew the work involved so one day I found some ambition, drilled the necessary holes and pulled the wire. I then bought the best breaker I could find and connected it to the ...
Simple question, or is it...
The most valuable thing you can do is take a couple of courses in electronics at your local community college. This will lead you to physics etc. It will also help you understand those little bands of color on resistors, how capacitors work (build...
Anyone with tinnitus or hearing loss who is into "high-end" audio?
I have had tinnitus for years which manifests as a high pitched constant tone. It actually sounds more like white noise. Like others have stated it varies in intensity. I won't allow it to impact my musical enjoyment however. I often wondered, if ...
Speaker manufacturers or box manufacturers with off the shelf drivers?
@whatjdAs a lifelong Michigan resident your words are so true. My father worked at one of those engine plants and I recall when a whole new one was built. Each GM manufacturer had their own unique twist to their designs. Then the idea of a "platfo...

@n80 I appreciate your comments and am more then happy to have a dialog regarding the subject. I had no intention as I stated to offend anyone and if someone is offended then to me that is simply irrelevant. It is the person who is offended that h...
Religious music for less than devout
@ghosthouse Wow, really? The topic of the thread is music for less than devout. My reference was intended was a humorous take on the thread topic. If you are offended then that is on you. If you are that sensitive then perhaps you should have avoi...
Non Analytical Sounding DAC Upgrade- Budget $1,500 or less
I too am curious about the Tubadour. For those reading this thread in the future, you may also consider the Holo Audio Spring Dac which is a R2R Dac that offers a very musical presentation. I have been using one for a couple of years now and am ve...

Is there such a thing as too much power?
@handyman said, "High current amps are what is needed, not necessarily high wattage amps, unless you’re pushing high efficiency horn loaded speakers, or something like them, although they usually go hand in hand."I agree, while recently researc...
Is there such a thing as too much power?
Take a look at the sensitivity of Daedalus speakers and that supports what Alexberger & atmosphere said. They are known for being highly detailed and require little power.
Best class A+D amp with Conrad Johnson PV-14LS SE pre-amp
