Line fault at the outlet -- do I need an electrician?
I have certainly enjoyed this thread as well. There has been a lot of good information suggested and this really points out the problems that can arise when this old house meets do-it-youselfer. I don't mind do-it-youselfer's as long as they get t...
Line fault at the outlet -- do I need an electrician?
" So, our house is a mixture of old/DIY and new (renovation); the problem is with the old part of the house."Hmm, that’s telling eh miller?

I would follow Jim's advice but you may want to start at the beginning and pull the cover off the panel box and JUST LOOK to see that the wiring on the circuit breaker matches all others. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE PANEL BOX! If possible you can...
It isn't the bits, it's the hardware
Allow me to shift the conversation in a different direction. In the upsampling/oversampling discussion, why is it that when using an R2R ladder DAC most prefer a non-oversampling setting?

I simply use a belt drive transport to isolate the motor from the transport altogether.

Some amps I never heard of...
This class D amp seems to be making lots of waves lately. It’s "Pro" equipment but being used in home audio also. Huge power at a minimal price. I don’t know much about it but there are some youtube videos out there.https://www.crownaudio.com/en/p...
Extra power or cleaner power?
I have always been an advocate of balanced power. I use a balanced power device and my system is dead quiet. Equi-Tech pretty much wrote the book on this (among others but Equi-Tech communicates it well). In my mind this is the best method for ach...

Spatial Audio open baffle speakers, who has them? Worthwhile change from Maggies?
Yes, would love to hear some feedback uber.
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously.
I'm not a big jazz fan so perhaps I shouldn't even comment here. I have listened to Coltraine and I don't "get" him either. I respect him for his creativity but he's just not my cup of tea. I have an issue with horns in general. I find trumpets wa...
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues
Uber, I plan on having the breaker inspected and replaced. I've had multiple trips in succession. I'm no expert but I do know there are two quality levels of circuit breaker. There is a "home" version and a higher quality version. Ask your elect...
Spatial Audio open baffle speakers, who has them? Worthwhile change from Maggies?
uber,I have to echo lalitk’s comments. I owned the Turbo M3 for about a year. They are very detailed, easy to drive and really fill the room but in my mind were devoid of any emotion. In my mind they were the best (detail) and most boring (unemoti...
Speaker sensitivity, impedance, and calculating amp power
SPL isn't the only consideration when choosing an amp. Factors such as headroom for transient spikes and damping factor play key roles. I had an amp from a specific manufacturer that was rated at 200w into 4 ohms. I had a sense (how's that for a s...
