Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
One last thing, most ESL's are really not very neutral. Almost all can benefit significantly from digital EQ from the midrange on up. Unlike dynamic speakers which can often be measurably neutral fairly inexpensively. Again, don't get religious. I...

@don_c55 Well, yes, but how low and how high is what matters really. Getting significantly below 4 Ohms for instance. The theory is solid, and if you see Stereophile's FR plots they do one into a simulated speaker load that's pretty good at showing...
Hi Resolution download - question on authencity of the files
@dbtom2 You are correct, and in my case, correct as well. My previous DAC had pretty mediocre jitter control EXCEPT via USB, which I did not have a source for. I was however able to compare the Mytek to the previous DAC using the same source, Sque...
Dual subs and room size
Hi Italian,Best way to find out is to measure. :) You can also approach this a step at a time. Get 1 sub, place it the best you can, measure it, plan your next move. Empirical measurements are always better than theory when it comes to a specific ...
Headphones that sound smooth and comfortable on a pillow?
Thanks everyone!
Hi Resolution download - question on authencity of the files
Part of what makes me wonder about htis was my previous DAC with the Wyred4Sound Remedy. The exact same data would come in at 44/16, come out at 96/24, and it would sound better. My next DAC however the Remedy had no such effect. With/without it s...
Hi Resolution download - question on authencity of the files
I wish I knew. I just think the latest crop of DAC's does such a very good job on Redbook files that I am not easily able to hear a difference. Then I realised, what if the a DAC played redbook and hi-rez equally well. We would be forced to challen...
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
It’s not like the end of the world will happen if you go with tube gear, and different tube gear will yield different results. If you randomly picked out a half dozen beefy solid state amps and equal number of beefy tube amps though, you might fin...
splitting a streamer's output
I think you are overthinking the entire thing.  An isolator like an iFi may be a good thing though.I also think you are using equipment to act as tone controls in the most expensive and difficult way imaginable. Better to get an EQ before your DAC...
Should I really, really buy a Berkeley Reference DAC...Testify!
Um, listen to the latest from Mytek, Schiit and Ayre. I think they are going to be far less expensive, and you might like them more, or at least, not tell a difference, than the "reference." But to your own ears and wallet be true.
Dual subs and room size
I generally agree with @wattsperchannel I also very much agree that integration is much more important than getting the most massive or beautiful or well reviewed sub. Very good very powerful and capable subs are available relatively inexpensively...

Also, I like the work of Blue Coast Records more than anything else right now. I encourage you to buy from them.Best,Erik
Hi Resolution download - question on authencity of the files
After a few high profile scandals, HD tracks claims they scan all their files to ensure you are getting what you pay for. I'm coming to believe the difference in sound between CD and hi rez has more to do with players than with data. Some modern D...
splitting a streamer's output
You'll probably need to start two copies of your music player, and select each dac separately.
splitting a streamer's output
You are better off hooking both DAC's up to separate USB cables, and use a preamp to switch back and forth. :) Best,Erik
