New system with periodic sound dropouts
The point is the Dell has all the music locally. The network is not being used for streaming, but there are still drop outs. Best,Erik
HIGH Quality Electric Service Panel
Yep, Siemens and Square D offer in panel surge suppression, though I'd probably recommend it at the service entrance instead of a sub panel. The extra impedance of the line between the main panel and sub panel can keep the surge voltage high. Alwa...
HIGH Quality Electric Service Panel
The usual top two I know of are Siemens and Square D which has a couple of different lines. I think Federated/Federal (can't remember the exact brand name) should be replaced when found. They were driven out of business for selling breakers that d...
Best Capacitors for Crossovers
Ozzy, it’s really rare an audiophile blows a tweeter, unless you use a very low order filter and it’s too low an F.  In additon to the filter, there's usually resistors padding them down, so you have to work kind of hard to blow them.  Leave extra...

Another thing to test is to make sure all your power saving options are off.

On some laptops there's actually a physical switch disabling networking.

One other thing to try, if you are using any other USB devices, unplug them. Best,Erik

Have you heard the speakers you are thinking about? Will you be putting the speakers far away from rear and side walls? Room treatment?
Questioning the need for a DAC
Hotel rooms usually suck.  Regardless of dac, how are your room acoustics?? I'd spend money there if you haven't already before any more gear at all.
help me with a DAC decision please
The mytek is wonderful with ALL formats. Redbook sounds really really good. It also does DSD and MQA, but the latter, from my ears, is snake oil.Best,Erik
Dual subs and room size
Italian,A single well integrated sub is invisible and works very well with stereo. You cant tell where it is, at all. Just plan your EQ solution, or get a sub with very flexible eq bulit in. IN fact, I'll say, you can't hear the difference of most...

Ahhh, wait, are you wireless? :) Wifi is awful in conjested areas. If you use Android, use Wi-Fi analyzer to find free channels. Also, usually 5G is less cluttered.
