Conrad Johnson Repair Issues Scratches CJ Off my list no matter what. They should never have accepted it to begin with, or notified you at the very start of the process, not afterwards. Also sounds like they overcharged you for a capacitor replacement. Well, I'm a long ways f...
Cheater plug safety Only a qualified tech should attempt this, but it appears possible that the signal uses a floating ground and that the chassis and power supply ground are not bonded together. If this is true, then I would recommend: Use standard 3 pin plugUse shi...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. I see. Yep, an impedance doulber or quadrupler would do it for you. :)
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. Easiest/cheapest solution is to get an impedance multiplier for the crossover. Just making sure. You use 2 RCA cables to go from the ARC right? if you use a Y splitter to combine them before the crossover, that would be bad. :) Best,Erik
Cheater plug safety I think I see the issue. :) Nominally 15A receptacles can do 20A... I know it’s weird. :) The issue is the socket vs. the current capacity. The straight pin sockets are not designed to accept 20A plugs, but ARE designed to be connected to a 20A ci...
power conditioner I like to use Furman units with LiFT and SMS. I do find they add warmth and clean/quiet mid to treble. I miss them when disconnected.More importantly is having consistent performance 24/7. I rely on the Furman’s to provide bullet-proof surge prote...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. I am a little confused. Where does the signal get split? Is your preamp feeding ONLY the crossover? Or is it feeding an amp AND the crossover? Best,Erik
Cheater plug safety @cleeds I in this case I believe you are mistaken. :) One 20A circuit may feed multpile 15A receptacles. For those who don’t know, the 20 A receptacles look just like a 15A but with one leg T shaped, allowing for either 15A (normal) or 20A plugs. ...
Phono interconnects acting as antenna, adding noise to system Again, need to know if this problem exists with short cables, and exactly how they are constructed. There are two types of shield: Braided and foil. Foil is 100% coverage, braided around 80% I believe. All my cables are 2 conductors plus shield, n...
White Noise Does this the noise happen only when the HT receiver is on? If so, it's that your receiver has too much noise. Best,Erik
Cheater plug safety Hi Jetter!I would be a little careful retrofitting. Designers tried a lot of things before 3 prong outlets became standard and added all sorts of odd solutions to attach the case to the AC line. I would probably leave yours alone. I'm not an exper...
Transformer Noise Most welcome! Erik
Phono interconnects acting as antenna, adding noise to system Jricci,But it doesn't happen if you use a short cable? Erik
Phono interconnects acting as antenna, adding noise to system I just noticed that the Coincident statement line stage does in fact include balanced outputs built in. One last thing, running audio cables in metal conduits can roll off the highs due to capacitive coupling.
Phono interconnects acting as antenna, adding noise to system @reubent Check out my blog post on ground loops. :) Cable TV often causes that. http://pqltd.blogspot.com/2016/11/quick-safe-and-easy-fixes-for-ground.htmlJricci,Let’s assume it really is EMI/RFI that you are hearing, and not a ground loop issue. ... |
