8-16 ohm budget speakers I have a bookshelf kit that will run you about $350 if you want to build them yourself. :) More if you go with premium crossover parts.Measurements are here. Design is 100% free and parts available from multiple sources. Sensitivity is 89dB, imped...
Looking For A Subwoofer Hsu 12", $512Having said this, without EQ, smaller subs are better. Maybe even a 10" such as this one. My Spiel:==========Subwoofer's are not plug and play. The deeper they go the more likely to run into room interaction issues. Placement, EQ and...
preamp outputs RCA BTW, that link to Caras jacks is just an example. You can find the same much more cheaply elsewhere. Jensen transformers are pricey, but really good.
preamp outputs RCA Duduche,Adapters come in direct wired, and transformer balanced. The first kind may not give you enough gain, but will have no distortion. The second kind will help you match levels better, but may warm or soften the signal. You can of course sold...
DSD vs. PCM vs. MQA - Group listening experiment The latest Mytek's can of course, play all three formats, but I have not yet been able to listen to DSD directly. Too much computer configuration for me right now.I guess when you boil it down I'm curious if there's really a compelling story to g...
hsu uls-15 mark ii vs Velodyne Optimum 10 @bob_reynolds Yeah, after the one's I had. :) I owned the S-1B satellites and matching subwoofer bought them based on reputation and I always found them to have been overrated. However that was long before they introduced the series you are referr...
tt ground to phono section. solid copper? @jea48 Yes, and the safety ground is connected to the chassis of the equipment it goes to. The screw/thread/ground connector next to the turntable input is connected to what, exactly? :-) Best,Erik
tt ground to phono section. solid copper? @jea48 is kind of mostly right. It's not a safety ground, so practically any gauge will do, but ...when it connects at the phonograph preamplifier's chassis I believe, which in turn should connect to the earth through the preamp's AC plug, when pr...
hsu uls-15 mark ii vs Velodyne Optimum 10 The old M&K subs kind of totally sucked, IMHO, and the one I took apart was clearly overrated in power, based on the size of the internal caps.Otherwise, I agree completely with @bob_reynolds I’d rather have a Hsu 15’s properly integrated than...
2 prong power cable @theo I never thought I would see an equipment manufacturer something so clearly life threatening as a removable ground pin, but I guess money trumps all. There is a huge misconception that grounding through AV cables is an acceptable replacement f...
What is the resistor wattage used in the Dared VP-845? @hendrix142002 I'm not sure what those resistors are actually, that was just a "might" be. It's also important to pay attention to resistors which are fusible or flame proof as replacements should match if specified. Best,Erik
2 prong power cable OH, yep. :) The ground will be neutered... but there's a reason why the plugs are compatible. There's no problem then with using just about any 3 prong cable with it. A shielded 3 prong cable will still be shielded however, so there may be some ...
DSD vs. PCM vs. MQA - Group listening experiment @georgelofi I only posted what was sopposedly for an ideal file, not an ideal dac. Fery few multi-bit dac's left really. I'm interested in what DAC's users have, and if they can find some files that they feel are absolute demonstrators of a part...
#8 AWG spade connectors?? Parts Connexion will have what you want. I prefer the WBT vs. Furutech. I've found Furutech lacking in precision and have broken two trying to tighten bananas by hand. Never had the problem with WBT's. The spades should be fine though. There is ...
What is the resistor wattage used in the Dared VP-845? Those could be 2 watts. Green KOA Speer (i.e. Kiwame) or MIlls 5 watts are good alternatives. Mills are cleaner/leaner. Watch spacing to other parts! :) Best,Erik |
