Cheap surge protector that doesn't sound horrible? I'd sure want to protect against THAT kind of surge :-)
Help With Template for SME 309 Paul, I'm sure you can download a template at The Vinyl Engine website, if not for an SME for an Infinity Black Widow, which uses the same SME mount. Dave
Gallo reference /TAS vs Me I agree with Rolloff 100%. I didn't think it possible to make them sound like Opalchip says they sound. After three months with mine, they just keep getting better and better. And yes, they are VERY tube-friendly. Dave
Spades/Bananas/bare wire? I believe your friend is right and that the best-sounding connector is no connector. But bananas are certainly more convenient if you're planning to do a lot of connecting and disconnecting.
Home Theater with Gallo Ref 3s Thanks, Richard, but since you were here I moved the Gallo Ultimates into the back channels. Talk about wretched excess. Talk about awesome-plus. This is only until I sell the Ultimates, mind you -- if I do. Dave
Sonic difference 1.0m vs 1.5m digital cable There's been a lot of discussion about optimum digital cable length on AA's cable asylum, with adherents favoring l.5 meters, 7.5 feet and -- lately -- as short as humanly possible. I'm currently running a 6-inch link between a moded Toshiba 3950 ...
Anthony Gallo Reference 3 without sub The Ref 3s are VERY tube friendly (mine are powered by 12 wpc SET monoblocks). When you heard them they were either (1) in the middle of their hundred-hour break-in period or (2) partnered with pretty sad equipment. Your CJ 11A will make them sing...
Anthony Gallo Reference 3 without sub A great speaker and a fantastic buy. I like my pair better every day.
What do you do when nothing seems to get LP clean? I couldn't stand it. Had to try the enzymatic solution (not the alcohol-based cleaner, of course) on a shellac 78. "The Washington Post March" by the Victor Marching Band. I play this thing for guest on my circa 1928 Victrola, so it's suffered thr...
Audiogon Newsletter A nice surprise.
VPI TNT record clamp Loki1957, I think the Boston Audio Mat was designed to be used without a clamp, and that's the way I use it. However, it's hard to tell from the literature and I wouldn't be surprised if the Boston Audio folks recognized that some people will use ...
What do you do when nothing seems to get LP clean? I just think this whole thread is sad and getting more so, with absolutely no way to satisfy the naysayers who are trashing a fine new product with, IMHO, a mixture of unanswerable innuendo and misplaced Armor All comparisons. And what does this p...
What do you do when nothing seems to get LP clean? Wow, that puts me in my place. And 4yanx, I'm sorry your team lost. Jes45, I wouldn't dream of telling you to use ENZYMES on your discs. I'm amazed that you actually listen to them at all, must play hell with the resale value. All the best, Dave
What do you do when nothing seems to get LP clean? Pardon my fatalism (if that's what it is), but I just cleaned another handful of my favorite LPs with Paul's stuff. Anyone so concerned about using the AIVS treatment before someone Higher Up blesses it -- which is unlikely to happen to the satisf...
What do you do when nothing seems to get LP clean? Just when are these nefarious enzymes supposed to do their dirty work? I keep looking at and playing the records I've cleaned over the past couple of months with Paul's stuff and all I see is shine and all I hear is quiet grooves and wonderful cla... |
