Line conditioner for turntable,
Ohala is correct in that the PS Audios can be used to provide 33 (60Hz) and 45 rpm (81 Hz, available with the upgraded power plants), but will not provide "speed control" in the sense of fine-tuning the speeds. The PS Audio sounded better than the...
Which hi-end Sony SACD player to buy?
I bought the XA-777ES even tho I had no plans to go multichannel because I liked the following things about the unit. It plays CDRs and CD-RWs. Its loading time is MUCH faster than the other two. It's a front-loader rather than a top-loader. Its t...
Best way s to clean CD's? Any updates?
I used Finyl a long time ago. Couldn't tell any difference before/after using it. IMO, it's not in the same league as Vivid.

Walker Audio's VIVID. Great stuff.
those F'n price stickers on jewel cases...
Here's one you won't believe. Just a drop of olive oil, let it sit a couple of minutes, and it floats off.
Senior Audiophiles - Audiophile since the 60-70's?
All you youngsters make me feel REALLY old. I co-owned a record store while in college in the late '40s, got into components iun the 50s (Collaro changer, Bogen DB-20 amp, Revere R-R tape deck, University 620l speakers, the first Harman Kardon tun...
VPI JMW 10.5 damping oil question
I have this arm, and that part of the arm tube definitely contacts the damping fluid. No idea why yours doesn't. Check with Mike at VPI.
need help with vinyl
"I knw it's NOT my setup or machine." Sorry, but I'm afraid it probably is. Some setups and cartridges accentuate surface noise, however clean the records are (not that a good cleaning regime isn't absolutely essential). You'll find that the bette...
Cleaning agents?
See recent M. Fremer column in Stereophiile re use of a German metal cleaner called "Flitz." I've had amazing success using this stuff (available at well-stocked hardware stores) followed by use of contact cleaner (or just alcohol).
Burning a CD
Anybody else having trouble with Imation CDRs? I've never had a problem with them. Stopped using the higher priced blanks (Mitsuis) when I admitted to myself that I couldn't tell the difference. That said, I can't think what else could be the prob...
Recommendation for guitar duo CD
Try a Concord CD called "Polarity" with guitarists Jimmy Bruno and Joe Beck. Very pleasant and well recorded.
Review: Musical Concepts Super Connect IV Interconnect
I agree 100%. Although I have switched to Omega Mikro & Mapleshade wires, the Musical Concepts ICs are incredible bargains and continue to be my backup cables. You can't go wrong with them.
CD v. SACD
Keep it simple. Buy the Sony. You won't regret it.
Good moving magnet or cheap moving coil
For $600 or less, you can get one of the top Grado Reference models here in Audiogon. Hard to beat, IMO.
Best Tube integrated under 2000
I'll second the Antique Sound Lab AQ1005 recommendation. Have one in my system now (on loan). Most powerful 8 watts I've ever heard(my own amp is a 140-watt CJ Premier l2, and I'm very tempted to switch). Good luck, Dave
