Recapturing my youth I actually had the A-40’s in my basement workshop for years. When I upgraded my old system, I replaced the A-40’s with the Bookshelf Totems (they are about 5 year old models) I had. The improvement was huge, and this is just a second system I list...
Do you have a "Music" Friend? I might have found a friend! My wife made me go over her friends house for wine and cheese. Oy. Turns out her friend’s husband has a nice new Mcintosh/B&W system, with a turntable even! Definitely having wine and cheese with them again.
Come on up to the House - Women Sing Tom Waits @middlemass. Ha! And they also chew gravel while they sing. Waits is the musical version of Bukowski. So Check it out and tell us what you think of their interpretations.
Help buying first analog rig - Clearaudio Concept or Rega P6 I own the Rega 6, but it was a tossup with the Concept. Musichall was also in there. I would also suggest you go with the one you like the looks of the best. VTA is a nice extra. Didn’t impact my choice. I would add for you to go with the MC. This...
Your favorite audio cartoons Those are great! Thanks for sharing. Rodriguez and Mad magazines, I had a nice collection of them a long time ago.
The Luxman L-595A SE integrated is coming. I have the 590AXII and see no reason to go to this one. If they they had done a 50 watt maybe, but even then it’s not attractive at all. I’ll wait for the 100 anniversary, hopefully I’ll be around!
Favorite Cowboy Junkies? Jdoristhanks for the two recommendations. I will check them out!
All Things Must Pass 50th Anniversary sets due to be announced tomorrow One of the first albums I ever brought. I could use a new copy.
Do you have a "Music" Friend? @millercarbon - thanks for sharing, I had a good chuckle.
Acronova Nimbie Real Life Experiences I used a Bluesound vault to rip well over 400 CD’s, takes about 6 minutes per disc. And you can listen while it rips. No real techie skills needed. Metadata worked perfectly and you can then transfer the ripped CD’s to a PC, etc.
CD Ripper Ethernet conundrum Unless I am misunderstanding you, what you are doing is using an WiFi extender to your Bluesound to get the same signal from your router you’d get if you could use an actual direct Ethernet wire to your Bluesound. Which is what I am doing since I ...
Considering an integrated Lots of good recommendations. I’ll add to the Luxman choice. I have the 590AXII and the MC phono section blew me away. Although a great separate pre is going to sound better, I’d say you’d have to spend quite a bit to really surpass the built-in L...
You mean someone buys this stuff? As a an amateur woodworker and a music lover, I think it’s great fun. But I would not mix them together. Millercarbon nailed it, even putting a beer bottle down would bounce that needle a few times. A bong would be worse as it’d probably land on t...
Speaker for McIntosh setup Having had McIntosh equipment in the past, B&W would be a good match as mentioned already. I have not heard the new JBL’s, but in the old L100’s were good matches and I would bet the new versions would be just fine also.
Favorite Cowboy Junkies? @jdoris I love So Tonight I Might See by Mazzy. Put it on at least once a week. Is "hypnofolk" it's own Genre? I'll have to check. It should be. |
