Need help: turntable market in the $1500-$2000 range is overwhelming
I went with the Rega RP6 and their MC (a little above $2K) you can go with their MM or the RP3 to save a little coin. I chose them for several reasons, I didn't need to do any setup, it had to look good (not like a Rube Goldberg setup), their tabl...

Blue Coast Music is having a sale, DSD included!
I Was not aware of Blue Coast Music, thank you, very much appreciated!
KEF R3 or Totem Signature One
I've had both Totem and KEF bookshelves (not the same models as you mention however). I would agree with mapman, you can't go wrong with either.
New ebay payments require SS#?
@ chicagoblue1977You're not a cop. Otherwise you'd know what defunding actually means, and also that most cops would really appreciate not having to deal with mental illness issues, the homeless and repeat drug addict calls for just three exampl...
Replacement Cartridge for Dual 505
I sold these tables a long time back with Audio Technica cartridges. Other brands like Grado (which I like) did not sound good with Dual tables. Since they range from $70 on up  I think you'd be happy with the sound and find a price range that fit...
Speaker cables under 1k used
Tried the Nordost Blue Heaven, but didn't like them, seemed too bright for me/my system. I like my Audience Ohno speaker cables, around $600 msrp, but found them used for about half. Seem to be very neutral to me. Of course what one person says...
Us: hobbyists vs perfectionists vs aural epicureans vs rampant consumers vs bad Buddhists?
"... physical manifestations of this primordial, impersonal self." Damn, that was good.
thoughts on the bose 501 speakers
I also sold them way back when, the tweeters were not high-quality. Any of the typical receivers back then could drive them pretty loud, so they were popular. The Mirage Speakers and AR's we had were way better, but the Bose name always sold them ...
Where are the young audiophiles?
There are many examples of things that most under 30, even 40, that hold little or no interest in. Look at Stamp collecting - killed by email and text. Model Trains used to be the "World's greatest Hobby". Coin collecting will be gone soon due to ...
Favorite Cowboy Junkies?
Wow, just going to pick out something to listen to and was trying to decide between Whites off Earth now  (Shining Moon, State Trooper...) or Pale Sun...). I don't have Acoustic Junk, will have to track that one down.
Hi Fi or Not?
@stereo5 I sold Kenwood also, but regardless of how it sounded, people just didn’t like the looks of their stuff and they didn’t advertise like Marantz and others did. Always sat on the shelf. Hitachi had some great sounding Class G stuff, but the...
What audio aspect are you knowledgeable in?
Matching various varietals to the music.
Do you have a "Music" Friend?
Hey old bear, thanks for jumping in, I was surprised this thread didn’t get more responses. The ones that did though were really interesting. Not sure what you mean by too Catholic. But wish I could fill one of your rocking chairs, good music is g...
Hi Fi or Not?
These are brands (and there are many others)  that go up and down in quality depending on their who their management/owner is and which series you are referring too. Marantz is a great example of an original American brand that was top of the line...
