To Harbeth or not to Harbeth, That is the question...
I have the Harbeth 30.2 with the Luxman class A 590axll, I had a hard decision between choosing the 5’s or the  30.2, all I can say is I don’t normally listen loud, right now it’s around 60-65 Db. Although when needed I can get it up to 90+ with n...
Paradigm or JL subwoofer
I have the JL 110, my room being too small for the 112's, they sound amazing compare to my old Velodynes. I highly recommend them. But Paradigm makes a decent speaker, so if it's a choice between going with the JL's for 9K, or another Paradigm and...
Car Audio and the High End
Back in the 80's I also had a great car stereo, I worked at an audio store and I had Concord front end and a clean power amp with AR speakers all around. The tapes I recorded on a Nak sounded great. But I agree with millercarbon, car and home qual...
Phono cartridge
I've used Grado with S-tonearms many times, especially with Technics tables, and this seems to be a very similar table. Should not be an issue at all. The Prestige series is the highest level I would spend for that table however.
Recommendations for speakers that sound great at lower volume levels.
I have 30.2's and drive it with a Luxman 590AXII that has a bi-passable loudness control. They sound wonderful at low volumes. Yes, I know, tone controls are looked down upon. However, as Ccakyol  stated and mwinkc chimed in, a loudness control is...
Adding 2 Channel to my HT system and need some input on options
I had a Mcintosh HT and tried adding two channel. Finally went whole two channel with Luxman and never looked back. Millercarbon is 100% correct. Sorry guys for adding to Mr. Carbon’s ego.

NRBQ rocks. Really fun band.
Listening to digital and analog
@millercarbon “Propofol is also reported to induce priapism in some individuals” Wikipedia - two benefits in one.
The Luxman L-595A SE integrated is coming.
I wonder if they'll do something similar to what Harbeth did with the 30.1 Anniversary - Harbeth turned it intothe production version 30.2...following that logic, perhaps Luxman will, if the 595a is successful, turn it into the 590AXIII?Hell, if I...
Streamer Advice / Recommendation for Denafrips R2R DAC
I have to agree with @soix3  - I had a highly rated Denon AVR and although I am sure yours sounds better with the Rotel amp. I've owned Rotel in the past and always though they sounded good. But when I replaced it with a Luxman the sound improveme...
Integrated amp recommendations for harbeth 30.2 XD
@newton It’s been two months Newton, what did you get? How does it sound?
B&K ST-140 amplifier buying decision
I owned the early version of the 140 with 70 watts a side, it was a great amp, slightly warm/tube sounding but not mushy.  I Agee with tooblue, $3-400 already recapped would be fine. It is 20+ years old easily if not 30, and B&K went out of bu...
Music for setting up speakers
@millercarbonThat Yello video was like Stan Lee meets the Teletubbies and Monty Python on acid.As for the OP, I have always found using a quartet for classical, or something recorded live in a small venue to be a good starting point. Might not be ...
CD Ripper Ethernet conundrum
Thanks recluse, although the repeater I have is working well for me, I'm going to try a bridge for a more stable, and perhaps better sounding solution.
Recapturing my youth
@tweak1 " ........are both big and heavy........if they are not properly boxed and palleted, you can be in for a rude awakening"I assume this description matched your later hook up also? I did the same thing once, yes, big mistake.
