Music Servers, Do They Matter?
Tomstruck - the A10 with a nice DAC is my end goal!
Music Servers, Do They Matter?
I went from a laptop to a Bluesound Vault and clearly heard the difference. Plan to go up to up to an Aurrender. The sever absolutely makes a difference. Although DAC differences are easier to hear by far. I would not compare a server it to a cart...
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound?
I posted a few months ago that many of my old rock albums sounded pretty poor on my new system - now some I only listen too on an old system I have in my workshop in the garage. I have not heard a really unlistenable Jazz album yet. In fact all Th...
How loud are you typically listening?
Around 75-80, but most music I have found does sound better at 90-95. Sadly I can’t handle loud for longer then a couple of songs, too many blasting concerts in my younger days and just normal aging.
My dog gets to enjoy my system mor than i do
Thank you MC for the link -  Jorma, Jorma, something....I laughed out loud. One of my favorite guitarists.
Luxman tonality
@Luxmancl38Totally agree on the AVR. I had some nice two channel stuff for many years, but switched to an AVR like many people did and I brought a top of the line, highly rated Denon AVR that I never thought sounded good. I changed to McIntosh A...
Do you have a "Music" Friend?
thank you for the idea @edcyn693, I play some very bad guitar, but have never really reached out like you suggest. I will try your advice.
New-ish to Audiogon Forums... Is it always like this?
@dougm5740 Totally agree!
Don't get it, why anyone would ask others "what sounds best"?
Although asking what is best isn't that helpful, asking what something sounds like is helpful. I am sure many will disagree with me, but when I wanted to upgrade my speakers last year, I asked about several brands and it helped me avoid ones I kne...
Do you have a "Music" Friend?
@alexatpos Yep. I listen alone. It's not sad, just lonely when a great lyric or a great solo comes along. I agree a lot of folks don't listen to Jazz anymore, their loss of course. But I don't think it's any particular genre that will get you more...
New-ish to Audiogon Forums... Is it always like this?
As with any blog, these is good and bad. I agree that lots of folks come here looking for a simple, straight-forward "what should I buy?" question, or confirmation that they already know the right answer, and are not looking for a discussion or fo...
Anyone have the Answer?
p05129 Yeah, I really don't understand MC, he does have some very good experience and knowledge to share, he even thanked me once for a musician I recommended on another thread, so I know he has a heart. But for some reason likes to trash/insult p...
Do you have a "Music" Friend?
@EDCYN687 Regardless of my nickname, I was and am open to all music. Yep, been about 35-40 years for me too. I had one friend who loved the Doors and Springsteen, I myself never put them on, but had no issue with sitting and listening. Lou is/was ...
For a few dollars more
Damn, the first thought I had about this thread was that Clint had died. Had to check the news. Glad to see it wasn't true. I have barely gotten over losing John Prine.
Scratching my head...Bluesound Node 2i direct to amp
I owned a Mac surround amp and pre-amp for years. It never sounded that good with two channel. When I did finally switch to pure two-channel, it was an amazing difference. In my experience, I agree with the others, replace the Mac.
