Review: Sonus Faber Guarnieri Homage Speaker
Emailists, I have NOT heard the Torus sub with the GH's. I did hear the Torus with Wilson Sophia 2's. An excellent sound. The Torus is lightning fast with an seemingly endless ability to punch down low into the lowest regions. To my ears, it is th...
Review: Sonus Faber Guarnieri Homage Speaker
Hi Egidius, are you using Merlin TSM's or VSM's? I have listened to TSM's in my room....not VSM's. I must say that the TSM's were extremely good and would have been my 1st choice if it weren't for the GH's. The GH's are a iittle more refined in my...
Review: Sonus Faber Guarnieri Homage Speaker
Replaced the Highwire speaker cables with Nordost Red Dawn 2. These cables are much quicker and allow the GH's to bring more of their immense ability to portray the inner detail of music to its fore. Small details that had previously gone unnotice...
Class A amplifiers - which are considered the best
If you can find one in good condition...then I would say the original Krell KSA50.Hard to think of another Pure Class A amp that is significantly better than Dan's original design, just IMHO.
Rowlands
Or if budget allows.... Jeff's new 925 mono amps....they promise to be something very special
Whats on your turntable tonight?
On the TT tonight is the new pressing of Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman on Chad Kassem's new label... Analogue Productions...Quality Pressings.BIG disappointment for this much praised pressing....Something went seriously wrong with this LP, IMH...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
So many, including: Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Santana, Robin Trower, Buddy Guy, BB King, SRV, Albert King, Chuck Berry....Yes, Chuck Berry, he's absolutely amazing IMO, Muddy Waters, George Benson, Al Di Meola, Paco Di Lucia....too many others to me...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Original Shaded Dog 1s 1s pressing of LSC 2241.....1812 Overture with Reiner and the Chicago. Cannon front copy, which IMO sounds WAY better than the later itinerations. Worth getting your hands on a copy of this sweet LP if you can.
It's Sunday afternoon...what wax is on your table?
A 1s 1s shaded dog LSC 2241 1812 overture with the canon front. Very sweet LP with a great deal of string detail as is fairly usual of the Reiner/Chicago Shaded Dog pressings... This one's a treat if you get your hands on one.
Life after DarTZeel
Pani, I am fortunate enough to have heard both the Dart and the CAT JL2 and JL3's. The Dart is a great ss amp, the CAT's are great tube amps...not really the same presentation. Personally, I prefer the CAT sound....the Dart is slightly-slightly mo...

Have you treated your listening space?
I used to think that room acoustic treatments were the last thing to do in a system....WRONG! They probably should be the 1st on the list! After I installed some Real Traps into my room, the system was just raised to another level. My a'phile grou...
Rowlands
Agree with the other posters. My model 8 with choke has been a central part of my system for many years now. This amp is still highly competitive with other ss amps that are far more costly today, IMHO. I still haven't heard any other ss amp that ...
Replace pwr cord w/IEC socket on vintage gear?
Johhnyb53, I had to make this same decision with my ARC D70Mk2. I went with all stock and I'm glad i did. A friend who bought a D115 Mk2 changed out the stock cord with an IEC and a Shunyata and also changed the speaker cable strips to the newer C...
