WOW; great stuff at THE Show, Newport this weekend
Magfan, where is San Diego...;0) BTW, I went into the RSL room, wherein I proceeded to get roped intore-organizing his set-up..;0(I moved the speakers more into the room ( so that we were essentially listening in the near-field), flipped them upsi...
5 legendary speakers?
Ggavetti, I would replace the Amati's with the Guarneri Hommage's andadd the RTR's and Jantzens. Also special IMO are the original LS35A's and the MBL's. Many others could also be nominated.
Who was the best jazz guitarist ever?
Jimi Hendrix comes to mind when I think 'who's the best guitarist', OTOH, there are many great players.......a few others that come to mind...SRV, EC, Robin Trower ( VERY underrated IMHO), BBKing, Santana, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Jimmie Vaughn, Er...
room tuning 12ftx12ft room
G19276, your room dimensions are similar to mine. You will not get a room this size to allow a speaker to plumb the depths of 30hz or below reproduction. However, you can enjoy great imaging and intimacy of reproduction with a few tips that helped...
Tenor 75 Wi OTL
Glory, I have heard the Tenor's on several occasions and IMHO, they are an excellent amp. They will give off a lot of heat into the room, but that is to be expected with most tube amps. I saw these on 'Gon before you bought them and was tempted to...
Buying a Tube Amplifier
Saunig, you might check under the 'Reviews's section, I posted a review there a few months ago. Other areas to research are the Audio Asylum forum on the web.BTW, Freediver, as a guitar teacher, i don't quite agree with your post about why guitar ...
Buying a Tube Amplifier
You may want to seek out an ARC D70, either a Mk1 or maybe better still, a Mk2.These can be had today for a song and are IMO, still ultra competitive with almost any other tube amp out there! Only thing to be concerned with is the very poor abilit...
Popping noises
Thanks again for all the replies. Today, I checked the bias and re-seated all the tubes. The bias was fine and there were no more popping sounds-- the amp sounded absolutely beautiful again..:0)After a couple of hours listening, I know again why I...
Popping noises
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I will re-check the bias, although on my ARC amp this is a real chore...:0(The driver tubes, as well as the power tubes, are all fairly new with less than 50 hours on all of them. What I am wandering is if my JJ ...
Popping noises
Seems to happen during warm up only. After I took the amp off idle and played various pieces it seemed ok.
Sonus Faber Guaneri Homage or Extremas?
Malwow1, are you still using Mac gear?BTW, agree with you that the E's produce more bass...don't agree with the soundstage and imaging comment....YMMVI'm sure the GH's will go to someone who appreciates them..:0)
Best sounding MFSL LP
Getz/Gilberto, Muddy Waters 'Folk Singer', Billie Holiday 'Body and Soul'--yes Winoguy 17 this is the 'real deal', fantastic in both analog and digital, AKUS live, Cat Stevens, Tea.., Mulligan meets Webster,Baez- Diamonds and Rust, Ella and Louis ...
Gruv Glide
Not sure of that G_m_c. However, i have never had a problem with any vinyl that has been treated with GG and this is over a period of about 15 years that i have used the stuff. The propellant in the can does go south after some amount of time, I ha...
Gruv Glide
Theo, from the sounds of it, you would be better off putting it in the trashwhere it now belongs. Seriously, I have thrown several cans of GG away in the past, they do have a shelf life.
Gruv Glide
Theo. the can sprayed a 'powder'!!! How old is your can of GG???--:0(
