Novus 1 as a CD/DVD Cleaner
I never used Novus on a CD, but I know it is safe for all plastics.  I do recall a product from Mapleshade - a CD polish that I felt actually improved the sound, but I don't have the patience for that anymore.  But you might also try a more aggres...
Best "laid-back" speaker cable & interconnects for all Naim system?
See - you are now going through what everyone at one time went through.  You are not satisfied with the sound and you are setting this arbitrary budget of $675 because you have that in your head.  You just have to get used to the sticker shock of ...
Best "laid-back" speaker cable & interconnects for all Naim system?
As I recall, unlike the other Naim amps, the Nait will work with any cables because of the built in zobel network, or something to that effect.  That aside, as a former Naim junkie, IMO the cables are not your problem.  If the sound is that object...
Classic 3 VPI
Yes, clean the belt, but remember you also need to clean the perimeter of the platter.  Isopropyl alcohol is fine, or ROR (residual oil remover) if you're so inclined. Also, wash your hands thoroughly before you begin the operation.
Crosley Record Cleaning System
Washing records in the sink or some other receptacle has been done for a long time and it can work.  The problem is that, without some type of vacuum, the cleaning fluid(s) may dry on the record, leaving a residue.  Also, with a vacuum system, you...
Speaker Jumpers WITH Bars??? - Jumper Using Silver Coins??
Jumpers are all about experimentation.  On my Harbeths, the Audience AU24 jumpers made a very positive improvement, but on my Operas, the standard metal bars sounded the best to my ears.  IMO, you should first start with the standard supplied jump...
Turntable recommendation
Music Hall MMF5 or MMF7, whatever the current models are.  Plug and play. Come all set up from the dealer.  I bought a MMF5 when I got back into analog in 2005 and it definitely was good enough to open my eyes to the virtues of analog - but it did...
Best way to Audition amplifier?
You can bring your speakers to the dealer.  Just as an aside, you are assuming that a new amp will give you the improvements you seek.  That may or may not be true.
Best high-efficiency speaker for Unison S6 EL34-based integrated
You're talking some money with Living Voice and Tannoy and they're good choices.  If you want to save some money, IMO Coincident speakers are a great choice, especially used.  The Trenner and Frieidl speakers are also very good with smaller amps. ...
Trade in value to a dealer
I contacted a company that buys used audio gear for resale.  I understand they have to sell at a profit so I was sort of figuring on 25% of the retail price - But the offer was about 10% of retail.  I just let it go at that point.  Unless you just...
Very Bad purchase from upscale audio Acoustic Zen Adagio
Wow - this is the first time I've ever heard anything negative about Upscale.  I bought a Nitty Gritty machine and my Opera Callas monitors from them and probably a few other things and everything was exactly as represented.  I know Kevin can be r...
Best Cable Line for Naim
I think Chord cables work well with Naim and there is one dealer who advocates or used to advocate Nordost red dawn.  Although I don't think Naim gear should be running hot with Naim cables.  The only time my 250 ever got warm is when I was trying...
Ever sit down to listen and just say wow?
I don't listen as much as I used to, but every time I do, I say "damn this thing sounds good."
Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS) Platforms
My dealer sold those racks, but I never specifically demo'd them.  But if the cost of your system justifies the investment, 7k is not much compared to a component upgrade.  As Chris Koster, formerly with Naim told me - the Fraim (rack) is the icin...
Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS) Platforms
IMO, absolutely no way to know whether you will prefer the sound. without a demo.  Any dealer selling racks at those prices should be able to demo the difference between a component with and without the benefit of the rack.  IMO, if I could not he...
