Is there miracles in audio experience ? I do not know if I would call them miracles. Magic is more like it. The most seemingly insignificant adjustment when everything seems to align harmoniously and brings amazement to the experience is where I am coming from.
surface noise reduction I do not know how that little piece of thread got stuck to the stylus. I do clean the stylus with that little brush in a bottle, the thread didn't come off with that. So I pulled on it and it came off cleanly. Records sound like they should now.
surface noise reduction After checking all settings and they are correct, I inspected for tonearm angle and tracking weight, which was only a little off, I finally checked the azimuth carefully. What I found was it too was setup correctly, BUT, a fabric fiber was stuck ...
surface noise reduction @atmasphere, you are right. I fiddle-faddled with the loading adjustments until I was satisfied. Took awhile but worth the effort. Yet I might invest in a better cart one of these days.
surface noise reduction Thanks, everyone, for the tips. I will try some of these and reply as soon as I have success.
Replacing surround with sound bar My living room [where the big TV is] is terrible for acoustics of any kind. I gave up on surround sound and went to a Klipsch soundbar and sub. Not exactly audiophile quality, but sure can play loud if needed.
Sansui? One of my friends came home from the Army with a Sansui integrated amp in 1974 along with a pair of Bose 901's. Neither of us were what we would audiophiles then. But they filled whatever room they were in, mostly Foghat, Led Zep. Who, Pink Floy...
surface noise reduction @lewm, I will try tweeking around with the Project phonostage. I thought maybe an elliptical stylus would help.
surface noise reduction @ghdprentice, I have a mid-level Thorens TT. I am unsure what model it is.
rocket 88 I once used some speakers, one a couple feet from the amp and the other was 8 feet away. From bulk cable, I cut a 5 foot length to wire the closest one, and a longer one for the other [to keep excess wire from the floor]. Didn't seem to bother t...
Vinyl record storage in Harvey's office, Suits TV show It's all eye candy. He never plays anything. I like Donna, too.
At what price is one considered an Audiophile. Most of you guys are right-money spent has nothing to do with it. It's all in your head. An audiophile is not the guy with the best music system, it's the guy who can sit down and enjoy what he has, probably tweaks speaker placement often to mak...
Rumors of CD Demise Exagerated? New Hegel I have a large collection of CD's. Hardly any new cars have a CD player in them. Bummer for me. You can have Sirius radio or have a player added on [in the trunk, usually]. Or play jump drives [USB].
Annoying trend? New vinyl equalization and compression Right, and it does not matter if they tout 180gm vinyl. Mostly, if it is a lower than say $30 it will sound like crap. IMHP.
I am streaming , how can I play music when provider goes down. @zappas 8-track had to sound better than cassettes because they were BIGGER, right? So said meeself at age 17. |
