RIP Jimmy Buffett Everyone loved him because his songs made them feel good. Myself included.
Speaker cable lifters. #toddsyr. I agree! Lincoln logs will absorb more of those nasty vibrations. Be sure and finish them with a neutral sounding wax.
What would your "perfect speaker" sound like. #Mahgister...... you are right. Case in point, go to any show where they set up their equipment [speakers included] in a hotel room like Axpona. Some of the most expensive speakers will sound crappy beyond belief because the space is too small o...
Watermelon test for audiophiles! Wifey says I have a one-track mind. Still, the end of the first Austin Powers movie was hilarious. "Melons, big juicy melons!"
Toslink When I switched out an optical cable to SPDIF, I noticed a blacker background, ie the spaces between notes. Nice improvement.
Flat frequency response I concur, speakers that are designed to be flat responsively are boring. Give me one that brings life to the party [without being obnoxious].
What's a Good Way to Buy Music Collections? Picture someone who just bought a new car and found out they do not put CD players in them anymore [true dat]. But you can stick a thumb drive into the USB socket and play that.
Rant: PSA to builders, housewives, and general complaint And most newer homes have gas fireplaces, not woodburners. I am all for a separate listening room. Most of our guests do not appreciate HI-FI anyway.

playing "top-damaged" CDs ? Some CD players are fussier than others. I cannot tell you why. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with price or supposed quality, or cleanliness. Mystery.
How Much Do Aesthetics Factor Into Your Decisions? I recently replaced my beautiful looking amp with a plain Jane looking one that performs much better, especially at higher volumes. Would I go back to the pretty one? Heck,no. Most of us want to close the eyes and just listen anyway.
Who has the Sickness, the Phile or the Non-phile? I have found that the great majority of people from any walk of life are not appreciative of HI-FI sound or equipment. They invariably will say things like "that's nice", or "sounds good". I do not take is personally, the hobby is not that popul...
Moving Up from a Jolida JD9 Once you star streaming, your TT will not get nearly the usage as before. Trust me on this. I always loved spinning vinyl, but it will definately play second chair after this.
If you want lame advice DON'T do this! I would never put my TV and surround system in a dedicated listening room, regardless of what somone else does. You are compremising one or the other.
Thoughts On Turntable Clamps And Weights Using a clamp seems to stifle a lively sounding recording. I know not everyone will be in my corner on this, but I prefer the livelier unclamped sound. I don't use mine anymore. |
