Totem Forest Speakers..... I stand corrected on the break-in - I was going on my dealer's recommendation when I bought my Sttafs - they said 400 hrs. They will probably get better after the 150hr point but they shouldn't sound bad before and indeed they should sound pretty ...
Totem Forest Speakers..... you should describe exactly how you have the room arranged so folks can give more considered guidance. In other words, how far apart are the speakers? How far out from the wall do you have them placed? Where is your seating position? Also, you shou...
speaker wiring for h/t and stereo When I was setting up my home theater I tried multiple HT receivers and all were unsatisfying, though I wasn't very high in the quality chain admittedly. I ended up going the passthru route as Macdadtexas suggests. It's by far the most convenient ...
Low level Hum in Phono Signal Path I've had this problem a lot on various vinyl rigs I've tried, and I think this is a pretty common issue. I've had varying success in eliminating it and am hardly an authority, but here are some things I'd suggest:- check the ground from your table...
TOTEM Sttaf removing mass loading Is the load compartment completely isolated from the rest of the cabinet on the sttaf? yes, it's a separate chamber at the base of the speaker. It's purpose built for loading, and you're right - it's a trivial concern.
Lexicon MC-1; DC-1 Power supplies here I am answering my own post . . . if I could delete it I would at this point. After posting, I did a little google work and discovered this is a common problem. It seems that the usual problem is capacitors and a number of folks have recapped ...
TOTEM Sttaf removing mass loading why not use a shop vac for kitty litter, I agree this would be a better method. Probably more thorough and lower risk of dropping the cabinet. The only problem is the hole is smaller than most vac hoses, so you'll need a reducer. This wold work wi...
TOTEM Sttaf removing mass loading . . . well I disagree with "do not buy anything" just because it was loaded. I own a pair of Totem Sttafs which is my second pair. The first pair I bought new and on the advice of Totem I loaded them (per spec'). When I upgraded to Mani-2's I sold...
Need help with Proceed AVP setup here's what happens . . .I connected it using the S-video cable, but also tried a composite connection. The OSD will not show up at all on my DLP hi def projector. I can get video output (ie the TV or DVD player output), but no OSD with menus. Whe...
Need help with Proceed AVP setup When you said your OSD still not on, do you mean on the front panel of the AVP's or on the TV's screen hooked up with Video out put from your AVP to your TV set?I mean the TV screen. When I connect the video out to the TV, I can see whatever my vi...
Need help with Proceed AVP setup thanks! I was able to restore the factory defaults using the procedure above. Sadly, I had to do it blind as the OSD still won't show on my screen.I'll contact Richard on Monday, in the meantime, does anyone know if there's a way to disable the OS...
dumb question...I apologize Derbim, in my experience most all phono preamps have less gain than CD players. So I very much doubt too much gain will be an issue - depending on your cartridge. Also, how will you decide which LP's you'll carry to your vacation house? (now this p...
Jeff Beck "performing this week" OMG Paladia has run this several times (that I've noticed) over the last few weeks. You may check the listings to see when it runs again. As for Imogen Heap's performance, I had never hear her before this DVD. I immediately bought her CD "Speak for you...

4 Ohm Speaker with an "8 Ohm Minimum" Reciever I drove a pair of 4 ohm bookshelf speakers for years with various "8 ohm minimum" receivers with no adverse consequence.I was always careful not to crank it, but with a small box speaker I doubt it will stress the receiver much at all. |
