Trying to get in to vinyl, turntable suggestions?
I've tried quite a few tables at various price levels but the one budget table I'm most impressed with (for the money) is the Systemdek IIx that I recently picked up. You'll see them listed for between $250 and $450 including an arm, depending on ...
Problem - Gain out of my cable box to my Processor
I have Comcast and the same problem. In the set up menu you can adjust for high compression, light compression or no compression, but no volume level. I have Verizon FIOS and it has both Compression as well as fixed/variable volume output. I previo...
VSA vs. Totem
I have Mani-2's (the original one) with a Rel Storm III in one dedicated room, and VSA VR4genIII's in another. The VR4genIII is a step up from the VR4jr (Albert Von Schweikert's assertion, not mine), though the jr is a slightly newer platform. If y...
Problem - Gain out of my cable box to my Processor
check your cable box setup. Mine have the ability to control volume output. You can switch the volume between variable and fixed. Chances are you have it set on variable (many come that way default) and the volume level on the box is set low. You ...
Mark Knophler; recommended music??
Also look at his brother David's releases, "Lips against the Steel" is awesome. good call. David Knopfler "Wishbones" is also excellent. As is the Notting Hillbillies release mentioned by Entrope.
Mark Knophler; recommended music??
What sets Mark Knopfler apart (at least for me) from other artists in the genre is his guitar playing, his songwriting, and his arangements. You may find others who have 2 of the 3, but not all 3 IMO. If you like Sailing, and Goldenheart, you may ...
Can't get proper tube bias per manual
I agree with Newbee . . . you need to determine if the problem is in the amp, or the tubes. I have had brand new tubes that wouldn't bias properly. Once you rule out tubes as the problem, you will want to have the amp looked at. It's important to ...
Suggest a good recording of Les Miserables
since noone has posted yet in the affirmative, I'll add my thoughts. I would also love to find a good quality recording but have not. I have the "Original Broadway . . ." and the "Hilights from the Symphonic International Cast Recording".While eac...
B&K ST-202
call B&K. They have always sent me that kind of info when I asked them.
tube pre suggestions
I would highly recommend a TAD 150 signature preamp. There are 2 of them posted on A'gon currently (I have one, but I don't know the sellers). It is a full remote operation except for power on (for that you have to get off the sofa. I don't know i...
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage?
I don't know if arms other than the Tabriz will drop in. It'd be nice to expand choices that don't require major surgery. looking at the picture of the Radius 5, it appears to me that ANY Rega form tonearm will be drop in compatible. If you shop f...
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage?
I have a Tabriz Zi and would recommend it highly. Are you sure it's the only drop in replacement though? It's Rega geometry and any Rega, Clearaudio, and other arms with Rega Geometry should fit.
how to clean old LPs
I had a similar situation to yours - my vinyl collection sat unplayed for about 15 years. When I first took them out again to play them, they all played awful - pops, ticks etc. My suspicion is mold, but who knows. I first tried manual cleaning us...
