Have you turned your loved ones into audiophiles
it's not gonna happen in my family. Neither my wife nor my kids have the least bit of interest. They listen to the car radio and ipods and have a very limited range of musical interest. My wife does tolerate my hobby - including putting up with equ...
Pass Lab XA30.5 with Totems
I've driven my Mani-2s using a tube amp set in Triode mode (~30 w/c) and they sounded wonderful. I didn't drive them hard with rock music, but the Jazz/classical/acoustic music I was playing was fantastic.
Von Schweikert VR 3
I have a pair of VR3's and even though I moved up to VR4genIII's kept them for a spare system. The value of them used is far below the quality of their performance. Top to bottom they're excellent.
What is the best way to add a 5:1 system
RR, your speaker switch should work fine. The only concern I would have is what it does to the sound quality of your MC202.
What is the best way to add a 5:1 system
Thanx much for the tips. It will be a while before this happens, but thought I would get a vision for it should look like. Sounds like I will need a processor and another amp with 3 channels, or would it be easier to have one amp for the 5:1 and t...

db . . . it will work fine. I have a PAV that I use for Stereo (amazing stereo pre) and I moved it to my HT, using my Lexicon MC-1 for 5.1 input to the PAV. It worked fine, but because of ventilation issues in my HT rack it over heated so I had to...

. . . what Jeff said. This is how I did it and it works great. It's also key that you choose a center channel speaker and amp matched to your mains. Likewise (but less so) for your surround speakers/amps.
How large is your music collection?
Synthfreek - what piece is playing on the soundtrack?
Lexicon MC-1; DC-1 Power supplies

Beatles: Mono a Mono
I recall a review published about 3 weeks ago - I don't recall where I saw it, though it most likely was in the Washington Post. You may want to google, or check the post on line. The reviewer did a-b comparisons of Mono vs stereo versions, descri...
Need help with Proceed PAV/PDSD
I have the PAV (w/o the DSD) and have had problems with it getting hot if it's not well ventilated. I had mine located in a rack with about 5" air overhead (closed back and sides though). I would expect this to be enough for a preamp, but one time...
How large is your music collection?
this was a good opportunity to take an inventory - and the total surprises me . . .~1000 CD's~800 LP's
Rolling Stone top 100 Guitarists - Howe/Van Halen
I think it's apparent that the primary criteria for selection was not skill. Indeed skill and musicality are perhaps afterthoughts.
Do I need a record mat?
the original intent of acrylic platters was to clamp the LP directly on them without a mat - essentially making the cartridge "think" it's riding on a 1" thick LP (or so I read somewhere). I found that using a Funk Achromat on my acrylic platter d...
