Transitioning: back to solid state....
The suspence is killing me. I say you are sticking with SS, probably Aelph. Afterall, it is fabulous solid-state....
New system advice?
I had a similar change of heart a few weeks back. You are making the right choice ;) The Cary V12 is very nice but for the price there are better deals (although it does look good). The Rogue 88 regular for instance, gave it a run for its money. I...

Paintings. My roomate paints and I have found a huge improvment by just hanging paintings on the walls. Took me 2 minutes and $0 for an amazing improvement.
Very tube-friendly monitor speakers?
I bought Omega TS1 speakers. Thanks for everyone's input. Arthur
What would a 2a3 based amp. bring to the table?
I am interested in this too. I just got some 96dB Omegas and am looking into an 8W 2a3 SET (Antique Sound Labs) which should give me 103dB SPL at my 8 foot listening position (according to the great crystalaudio.com website). I suppose this will b...
Very tube-friendly monitor speakers?
I checked out ProAcs seeing some people with tube amps had them but they have terrible sensitivity (the 1SC included). My Paradigms are much better than that although I have not seen the ProAc's impedance curve but the sensitivity is just too low ...
Pre-amp for McIntosh MC-352
the Mc C2200 is excellent indeed for tube quality sound. Their solid state preamps are fantastic too (especially the simple C15 in my opinion although it is now discontinued). Don't know your candidates well enough to say anything about them though.
Rogue Amps: Unlike other Tube amps
I auditioned the Rogue 88/66 and Cary sli 80 together on a pair of Tannoy D700 and they both sounded great. The Rogues did not have quite the bass definition or control of the Cary but the mids and highs were basically equal. I think Twl is probab...
Very tube-friendly monitor speakers?
I like the Omega TS1. Very cool. Thanks for all the input. I guess now it is time to decide! Arthur
Very tube-friendly monitor speakers?
Thanks for the replies. i checked out the "best efficient.." thread already but really would like to get monitors. I am looking into the Soliloquy - I had missed that one. I could not find much of anything on the LS3/5a. Thanks again.
Tube novice here. KT88 or EL34?
Antique Sound Labs has a 30W push-pull EL34 integrated for a very good price that was designed for inefficient loads (according to their website anyway) that is tempting. However, I still like the SET idea since I have my SS for real power. Maybe ...
Tube novice here. KT88 or EL34?
Thanks for all the replies so far! My speakers are are 89dB anechoic so I suppose I may be limited in the SET department, especially since they dip to 3 ohms. I am also looking at the Antique Sound Labs integrateds that seem to be pretty and for a...
Tube novice here. KT88 or EL34?
In this case, the KT88 is only 3 more Watts (15W total). Thanks. Arthur
Arcam A32 vs. ML 383, Macintosh MA6900, YBA, other
Hello againI auditioned at length the YBA Integre DT yesterday on a pair of Triangle Celius speakers and Arcam CD. It was very nice. It was less dark than Mc. From what I remember, it is as smooth and has a neat feature of tube filtering for a sli...
Any good opinions of Mcintosh MX134/206, MHT100?
In my experience there can be quite a few used Mcs with the warranty card unfilled. The problem is that you need a dealer name on it. I have come across some dealers on ebay that will sell you demos for a good price and, as long as you agree to no...
