Blue laser in CDP? I thought that one of the YBA players and perhaps the Classe omega player used blue lasers. I may be totally wrong on that though. There were a lot of technical papers written a few years ago (one of my profs was doing lots of research in blue las...
Arcam A32 vs. ML 383, Macintosh MA6900, YBA, other I auditioned the 383 side by side with the MA6900 and liked the McIntosh better. It just had more body and presence. They were playing B&W N802s with MIT oracle cables and Meridian CDP. They were both excellent but the Mc just made my feet tap...
Unshielded Speakers,How Far? Hello - you will see it quickly if they are too close ;). I have found that fields die off rapidly with distance and so a couple feet will do.
Amp / Cable / Speaker interaction....why? This is a tough one. There is no clear-cut answer because there are too many variables (the human one being the most difficult to harness). Best is to just try them out. Do you want something warmer, cooler, brighter, clearer? This could be a firs...
Is the Sony SCD-C333ES multichannel? Great! Thanks for the info - all my questions got answered. Now I have to decide whether I will go home theater in the near future.... Arthur
Best amp for ThielCS6. A friend of mine has CS6 (has had them a long time it seems) and he settled on McIntosh too. He had a Classe 300, then a Rowland (don't remember which), and now an old McIntosh 2300 and loves it to death. I remember he tried a Mc300 for a while bu...
Wanted... Advice - Best Speaker for McIntosh Amp McIntoshes are the only ones that to my ears can make the B&W N line sound good (i.e. not too bright). McIntoshes seem to be able to bring out the best in most speakers. Magnepan 3.6, Joseph Audio RM33, Vandersteen 3A (for very warm sound), Th...
Surge protection for Bryston amp Hey Rgd -I had the exact same post as you a few months ago and after dismissing the conditioning solutions, I came down to two choices: The Panamax Max 8 and the Monster AV800. Any more than those and you get conditioning thrown in - which I agree...
Anyone audition/own the new McIntosh speakers? I have read also that they are not overly detailed which is why I am interested in them. Thanks for the info.
Looking for Silent Fan Cooling f my ARC Tube AMP Kevyo is right. You want a low-speed one for two reasons: prevent problems with tubes and low noise. Rogue uses one that is amazingly quiet and you may be able to find out from them what brand it is. And don't blow it direct on the tubes.
The death of an amplifier Generally in electronics circuits, the capacitors are the first to go - but are generally replacable. Transistors should be the last to go if they are not overloaded or have very high bias current (heat is bad). Arthur
Whats better? a digital amp or a linear amp yes - I forgot about PS Audio. Have yet to hear them.
Equipment Break-in: Fact or Fiction The psyche needs more settling time than components from an electrical engineering standpoint. Arthur
Best Dark Sounding Amp For Bright Speakers? I would try McIntosh. There were other good suggestions here too but felt Mc had to be added. I got rid of the Krell KSA100 for the same reason and ended up with McIntosh as my favorite.
Whats better? a digital amp or a linear amp Funny you ask that. I have been toying with the idea of building a switching audio amp but there are a few problems - mostly harmonic ones (obviously). I am assuming you mean Boulder or Tact (I suppose there are a few more now) and I would say in ... |
