Hissing Some of my most favorite music has bad recordings with hiss galore. It is not too noticible on my system but when I take these CDs for demoing, I am amazed at how loud the hiss is on some systems - to intolerable levels even (the Wilson Sophia/Spe...
Best Electronic Albums of the 90s.... I would have to add two:Air: Moon SafariKruder & Dorfmeister: SessionsI just love them eventhough the recording could be better on both. When I need to relax, I pop these in and sit back, listening to them all the way through. They have great ...
New Mcintosh products at CES??? Hey Sternart - what speakers did you have? Do you remember the model name? I heard the LS360 and thought they were mighty impressive in all regards. Arthur
New Mcintosh products at CES??? I was expecting Sugarbrie's response - and got it.
Any Royd speaker fans out there? Yeah right. I wondered if anyone else had thought of that one ;).Well I guess I will just have to give up on Royds. I always seem to hit a brick wall.
New Mcintosh products at CES??? Curious here too.... Arthur
Home Theater processor opinions I second the Classe SSP and add the McIntosh MX132. Arthur
Mcintosh, YBA, Brinkman integrateds You will get all different answers. I, for instance, disagree with Warrenh completely. I find the YBA integre (even the passion) too thin for my tastes. The sound is very delicate with not enough energy. The McIntosh has a quite different sound in...
What's the best approach? The general consensus here seems to be to start with the source and go towards speakers since you cannot "correct" anything along the way so better start off right. Some say the opposite. I think it depends how bad your speakers are. If you think ...
Passive preamps and poweramp's input impeadance There you have it! Newbee has given us some insight on how the impedance curve behaves. Sounds like what we said is right afterall. You'll have to experiment with this one! Arthur
Suggestions for a tube preamp You should check out the Antique Sound Labs AQ2001DT preamp. I auditioned it with the Tulip amp and was very very impressed. They bettered the Rogue 88/66 setup for a lot less money. Both setups were playing Tannoy D700s. www.divertech.com. Arthur
Passive preamps and poweramp's input impeadance I will third Symphony and Unsound. 10k into 23k is not too good. HOWEVER, it is not the numbers that need to be matched but the impedance curves. I am not familiar enough to know how linear amps' impedances change with frequency to give you many d...
Which processor to combine 2 channel/ 5.1 ? McIntosh MX132 or the Classe SSP75. Both are truly excellent and will do exactly what you are looking for. Arthur
Efficient speakers for my 2A3's........ I forgot...also try the Coincident Triumph Signatures. Not as SET friendly as the Omegas but look great and have excellent reviews. http://www.coincidentspeaker.com/tri_sig.htm
Efficient speakers for my 2A3's........ I bought some Omega TS1 that are very very impressive for the price. You probably can afford more expensive ones if you bought Cary but I would give these a listen if you have a chance. They are not too common but sound darn good with tubes. Super... |
