Your ONE all time favorite love song?

For me it's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack, from her CD "Softly with These Songs, the Best of Roberta Flack", on Atlantic. I'm looking for LOVE SONGS. Thanks and Cheers. Craig

What a fun thread...another song, which is basically a throwaway by most standards--perhaps it was a moment in time...in other words my mood, hormones whatever...but the song was "Mr. Dyingly Sad" by the Critters.
My wife found it on a website and got it for me as a gift a few years back, bringing back in very real focus what I was thinking and feeling at that moment in time.

Who says we can't time travel?

"Duet" by Rachael Yamagata and Ray Lamontagne in Rachael Yamagata's CD titled Elephants.
Nice present from your wife Larry.

There are lots of love songs i really like. The song i like the most is "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" by Elvis.
Chatta,
Thanks, did I mention that she's my ex wife?
That makes it even 'nicer'.

She is, after all a terrific person.

Recently, I listened to Carrie Underwood singing, "I Told You So", a song written in 1985 by Randy Travis. The words are so poignant...especially if you've lost a girlfriend/wife, been alone and wondered IF you made the right decision...

WARNING!!!!
Do not drink red wine and listen to the YouTube of this!!!
This action may cause emotional distress!!!!

Aw hell, go ahead and listen.

THREE ;)
-Willingly (Crispian St.Peter)
-Constantly (Cliff Richard)
-Fool If You Think It's Over (Chris Rea)
Good one Obrown! Was going to add her "Hopelessly Devoted to You", but then I've already listed two songs too many. ;p
"Easy Now" by Eric Clapton. Just him singing while playing the acoustic guitar. This one has always moved me.
After 33 years of marriage it still hasn't changed. The simple but heartfelt lyrics and the equally simple melody of Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle" is a beautiful ode.

OK, I HAVE to add one more for obvious reasons. "The Way You Look Tonight" is simply too beautiful for words.
"To Make Me Feel Your Love"...sung by many, in my opinion, owned by Trish Yearwood.
This song is really beautiful...AND I would never have laid it at the feet of Bob Dylan who wrote it...surprise.

Good listening,
Larry
A song for you, written by Leon Russel and recorded/sung by the Temptations. Absolutely wonderful song.
Tipping Through The Tulips, by Tiny Tim. I proposed to my wife, Miss Vicky, with Tiny Tim singing his classic hit.
'Fooled Around and Fell in Love' by Alvin Bishop.....Mickey Thomas on vocals. not sure if it's a love song.
That would be Elvin Bishop with an E !!!!

Awe dangit ! ! ! And I own it too ! ! ! ! I'll blame it on spell check. I swear I used to be able to spell. You should be a moderator. (or learn to roll a doobie with one hand)
The Rain Song-Led Zeppelin today. But tomorrow it may be Since I've Been Loving You. It's close like that :)
"This Masquerade" by George Benson (the long version). I don't know who played the piano solo (it was either Jorge Dalto or Ronnie Foster) but it was terrific.

"Alfie" by Stevie Wonder, instrumental on harmonica. I have no idea what album it was on, but it's beautiful.
schism by TOOL, not your "typical" love song, but deals with the subject...amazing lyrics that deal with the spirtual motions of a relationship

What a great thread and what memories.
I love all of the Platters and all of Johnny Mathis and all of Nat King Cole and most of Joni Mitchell.
Five others not mentioned:
Dance Me to the End of Love - Leonard Cohen/Madeleine Peyroux.
All I Ask of You - Phantom of the Opera, Renee Fleming and Bryn Terfel (CD Under the Stars).
Ain't No Cure For Love - Leonard Cohen/Jennifer Warnes(CD Famous Blue Raincoat).
In The Still of the Night - Cole Porter/Jane Monheit.
My wife's favorite- Time In a Bottle by Jim Croce, and mine- True Love Ways by Buddy Holly, were both played prior to her funeral service during a picture montage of her life last month.
Pehare,
Yes, my screen name was chosen because of my love and respect for Bryan Ferry, and Roxy Music. Country Life does have a great cover, as do the first and second albums, and Flesh and Blood. There are so many artists in different genres that I love, but that band has a piece of my heart for sure.
I generally don't like ballads.

At the moment...it would be the Smiths' "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out".
Adele "Love Song" .... Only the live Royal Albert Hall version. Goosebump central.
