To add to Peter"s line (PBNaudio) A fool and his money are soon parted.By the time someone has a halfway or better decent system the fool is gone but the quest continues.
why do we argue?
We argue because the alternative of pulling out a 45 and silencing the other party does not go down well with friends and family, whether ours or the former annoyance.
Turntable L/R Balance
You can fix the problem with getting the proper balance back by reversing some interconnects down stream so that the left is once again left and so forth. Have you switched back to see if it returns?
Is a vinyl rig only worth it for oldies?
Have you cleaned the records before playing them? That could be part of the sound. There was a period of digital records that just never worked for me, others may and probably do differ. If I wanted a digital recording I'd get a CD or if available p...

how do you level a turntable?
Back in my youth when we wanted to level something we would either take it up to a third or fourth floor and drop it out the window or run a car over it. Guaranteed to level it.
Your ONE all time favorite love song?
beethoven piano concerto
Just acquired a good copy (LP)of Edwin Fischer playing and Wilhelm Furtwangler conducting Beethoven's 5th piano concerto. A really amazing version well worth hearing.
