Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

i do know ivy--they're adam schlessinger's breathy-pop band--always thought they were overpraised, though they do do what do well. massive attack, otoh, are awesome.
since you dug bowery electric, you might check out "still in a dream" on spotify--a big palylist of virtually every shoegaze band of note
Loomis - That is the Ivy I had in mind. I musta been living under a rock. Ivy’s "Long Distance" goes back to 2000! Yet they’re a relatively new "discovery" for me (last couple of years, anyway) by way of hearing "Edge of the Ocean" on Pandora. Dunno anything about the praise they received at the time but I am a total sucker for that sound. For anyone else that ain’t been introduced:

I’ll be looking for Still In A Dream later.
Trower "For Earth Below" is a Great Album!
I've listened to it hundreds of times if not thousands and it still sounds great every time!
"Show me the way to the next whiskey bar..." The Doors in Concert. Cassette set contains the tracks from the Absolutely Live LP plus more. Yeah! Pretty neat, pretty neat, pretty good, pretty good.
@reubent
So wudja think about the music on that Captain Fantastic?  Just curious.  I don't own it and haven't heard anything from it in many years.  How do the compositions compare to his earlier stuff?
@ghosthouse - So, I really like Captain Fantastic. It was from my High School Years and I have very fond memories of it from back in the day. Interestingly, I did not know the story behind it until recently. Check out the wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Fantastic_and_the_Brown_Dirt_Cowboy

It's way more pop'y than the first 3-4 albums. More in line with other mid-'70's albums immediately before and after it. There is the big hit - "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", which I personally always liked. But my favorite part of the record is the 3 closing tunes - "Writing, We All Fall In Love Sometime and Curtains". I love the transition between "We All Fall In Love Sometime and Curtains".

I'm really happy that I found a really nice, near mint copy of the album, with lyric and photo books. And I got it for $5. SCORE!

@reubent
Thanks for taking time to reply. Glad you are enjoying Capt’n. Fantastic. I do recall Saved My Life Tonight. Did not remember it was from this album though. Strong composition with a beautiful melody. Had to find it on Tidal. Listening to it now...Sugar Bear. On the other hand, CF&TBDC has the much loathed Philadelphia Freedom. Oh well. I’ll check out the Wikipedia article. Did read the story behind Someone Saved My Life. Long John Baldry. Who knew? Okay. Thanks again. Ciao.

Just read the Wiki article at the link you provided. Shows you what I know with my dismissive attitude towards this LP. Didn’t realize how well regarded it was with some considering it one of the best if not the best by EJ & Taupin. Hey - no accounting for taste...mine or those others!
Got turned onto this today while browsing cds at Memphis Music on Beale Street  -

Mel Waiters - Got My Whiskey
Tangent - "Collapsing Horizons"

Great sound and mood throughout.
Tangent is a Netherlands-based "deep ambient duo" consisting of
Ralph van Reijendam and Robbert Kok.

Taj Mahal & Keb Mo "TajMo" "Shake Me In Your Arms" OH MY! The whole album is fun!
Van Morrison - Poetic Champions Compose
The Chieftains -  Tears of Stone
badfinger, ass--their resident genius, pete ham is oddly subordinate on this one, with only two songs, but i think it's their most listenable overall
matthew sweet, in reverse--i've sorta overlooked this one but it impresses on close listen; ambitious, kitchen sink arrangements (horns, choruses, etc.), kind of like a power-pop "pet sounds"
Yoyoma plays ennio morricone. If you do not have this cd, get it.  Lots of emotion.
Arrived Today Robin Trower
RT. New cd. 'Time and Emotion"
Had a quick listen. In my stock car radio. Drivin
Quite good as expected. Solid R T classic sound.  His guitar licks just
seems to just Jump out of speakers
I look forward to a more critical listen on my home stereo

John Mayall - Jazz Blues Fusion (Live in Boston & New York)

Stumbled on this today.  Amazing...wow.

Alladin Sane, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Diamond Dogs  all in High Rez.

Allan Holdsworth - Metal Fatigue

I was lucky to hear this playing in a record store in 1985 when it was released. Bought it on the spot and I've listened to it often since that time.

If you like Rock/Jazz Fusion or virtuoso guitarist, check it out. Fantastic album IMHO.

RIP Allan Holdsworth.......

Nutty - Stand Up is one of my favorite Classic Rock albums, a genre I am O-fish-alee TIRED of. But there are just some gems that have staying power. Stand Up is one of ’em. Benefit is another. I’m not a huge Tull fan but those two...very, very good. We "Used to Know" is an excellent track. Love how it builds. "Reasons for Waiting" - another stand out track from Stand Up.  I am an absolute sucker for those strings.  Thanks for mentioning. Was listening to it just the other day. Great album cover too.
ghosthouse- some of Tull’s music is sneaky good, right!? And I usually need to be in the mood for it. Another good one is A Little Light Music. Its a collection of semi acoustic sets while touriimg europe back in 1992. Great production.
