Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Time for some "pomp rock"!

Pieces of Eight....Styx.

Truly magical band whose heyday was firmly in the 70,s.
And yes saw them live at Stafford Bingley Hall, England back in 78 I think.
If we are talking female singers lets hear it for Chrissie hynde and the Pretenders.
Last of the independents spinning right now
While probably not "quite" in the same league as Allison and Jonnette, I'm throwing out an honerable mention to Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes.

@slaw
Allison Moyet "Where Hides sleep",  All I can say is Wow! Looks like Amazon has a copy.

@reubent
Concrete Blonde is awesome as well. I like Bloodletting. Its a strong set.
"Joey" is excellent!

@reubent,

Hi. I love Concrete Blonde!....I'm looking at my "S/T" CB / lp right now.

Not one bad song on the entire lp. That's an accomplishment in it's own right?

In fact, I thought I was through listening today, until writing this response...

For some reason, I have "Bloodletting" on CD. You should get their "S/T" on any media you prefer..

Have a great day!

.
@slaw - Your Allison Moyet - "Alf" recommendation lead me to this album this morning -

Concrete Blonde - "Bloodletting"

Like Allison Moyet, Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano has a huge voice that works so well with the pop, alt. rock music they were playing. I love this album (only have it on CD :~( )
@slaw - I love "Where Hides Sleep". Allison Moyet and Yaz were regularly on my TT back in the early 1980's and they still find there way to my TT today. Great stuff and a great voice....
Forget every other song you wanted to hear,,,,

Allison Moyet "Where Hides Sleep"...

Check this one out soon!
@slaw

Regarding Manfred Mann,  yes! I am a big fan and Roaring Silence is excellent.
They sure don't make bands like that anymore.

@jond ,

No, I’ve never made any attempt to research it. Why? I guess because I was so enthralled with my lp,..I never thought about this forum to reveal it?

My feeling would be to go on google and (hit) Steven Kilbey (Church) or Donnette Thayer,(Game Theory), maybe (wiki?) I think you could locate with not much effort.

When you find it, you’ll (find) your reward...

My feeling is..this was a one time collaboration, which may make it easier to research?

Cheers!
@slaw sadly its not on Tidal, btw any idea how many albums titled Hex there are wow, will keep it in mind for the future.
@jond ,

Music is so genre bending these days...

The name will throw you! Don’t let it! Just seek it out...you'll be glad you did....

Count Basie and Oscar Peterson "The Timekeepers" my own ripped CD up next Count Basie & Friends on Tidal.  @slaw what genre of music is Hex?
OK..I'm listening to the newly cleaned Colour Haze "S/T" lp.

I bought all of their lps a few years ago and was then, unimpressed with the sonics. Seemed dark and uninvolving.

Now, after the recent change in my US cleaning system, totally different lp.It is now up there with the normal level of output I'd expect from any artist.

Sometimes...US cleaning works wonders when other methods lack their advertised/long historied /somewhat untruthful outcome.

Did I just say that?
Putting on the Hex lp now. If I could have the power to grant one wish right now...it would be to have each of you this record to play in your system.
The recommended lp I am referring to is the Hex lp above...(2nd paragraph) sorry for the confusion.

Watched ACL this morning...featuring Dan Auerbach. I've had his latest lp in my cart for a while. I pulled the trigger after seeing the live performance. That's the way I roll.....
Phish "The Story of the Ghost"
Colour Haze "S/T"
Hex "S/T"
Tom Petty "Hard Promises" MCA/Masterphile

If any of you are looking for something unusual to listen to, check this one out. I’ve always loved it. ..a collaboration between Steve Kilbey and Donnette Thayer. I feel lucky to own it on vinyl. Highly recommended!

@nutty,

Regarding Manfred Mann...are you as big a fan of "The Roaring Silence" as I am? This was the first record I ever heard through headphones in my teens. I was blown away! I now own 4 copies..for some reason?
@reubent - I think its safe to say that there will never be another like him.
Always interesting to come here and see what peeps are playing.
I get an insight into stuff I have never heard of never mind heard!
A couple from Jerome Sabbagh, read a Stereophile profile on the fact he's an audiophile and dialed up a couple of his releases on Tidal. Listening to "The Turn" now and "North" next. Pretty solid stuff.
Maurice Jarre movie music various scores. Have very many. Doctor Z as well.
Enjoying every single his work
The Church "Sometime, Anywhere". (lp) original pressing

In the US cleaner..."Starfish".
@slaw

Because I cannot change the room, can't even help it much as the waf does not allow.
Things will be different in the next life, I mean house!

Present speakers play very nicely in my shite room so all is good for now.
..the following comments are meant to be funny...

@nutty,

I’ve had this lp in my mind for several months. I thought about you for some reason when I was cleaning it today. While NOT an audiophile lp, it is one great rockin’ lp. My personal favorite!

Def Leppard "High ’n’ Dry" .   Especially.."Switch".

Enjoy!!

@mapman ,

I’ve (finally) got the Johnny Cash "America Recordings" box in route as I write this. I bought one of these lps when it was first released. Thought it was about time I sprung for this great release from his final years! 3 cheers for Rick Ruben!
Been re-listening to several lps I’ve had on recently because of my recent US cleaning change.

Now... Allman Brothers "Eat A Peach" Abbey Road/1/2 speed....

The musical equivalent to "comfort food".
@uberwaltz,

I gotta ask...why change speakers when the room may have been THE issue... if indeed that’s how it all went down???

My Ushers still flip my trigger!!

For about 3 years I owned a pair of Usher cp-6381 in gorgeous ivory with wood side panels. Stunning waf for sure but always felt they just did not gel harmoniously in my poor acoustic room.

Still a great bang for the buck speaker company and very underrated.
@Slaw-I moved from the Usher Mini Dancer 2’s with the DMD tweeters, which I’m now selling. For the money you can’t beat Usher. My other rooms have Usher speakers too.
@rbstehno ,

Welcome! I own Usher speakers. Have a pair of BE-718s and Mini-One Diamonds aka: Tiny Dancer.

Koan

This album is amazing! You wanna hear your speaker do some magic? Then this is it!
