Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

nutty
reubent,

Yeah, I'm in Cincinnat. arcam88 and I grew up together. Been to a few concerts together also. Queen was probably the most memorable. I agree, Budgie punches way above their weight class. Thanks for the offer on the CD's. I'll keep it in mind.

Robin Trower, Take what you need, CD.

N
Rush "Permanent Waves" MFSL lp
Peter Case "The Man With The Blue Postmodern Fragmented Neo traditional Guitar" lp. (Shew!!!)
Bill Callahan "Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle" lp

reubent, "If I Had a Rocket Launcher" is very relevant today, huh?

Neil Young: Earth LP

Beach Boys: Holland, Surf’s Up, and Smilely Smile Analogue Productions SACDs. Been waiting several years for these.

dgarretson---How is the sound of those three new BB SACD's? Those three albums (plus Sunflower) are real good ones from that period in their history. I see they are also available on LP; guess I'll have to choose between the two, 'cause I'll spend $100 on them, but not $200!
"What's New",  - Linda Ronstadt/Nelson Riddle...amazingly good on vinyl.

"Live In The Air Age" - BeBop Deluxe, digital
My vinyl copy all worn out.  One of the best performances and live recordings I've heard.  "Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape" alone is worth the price of admission.  In fact, if you're unfamiliar with Bebop start here, their studio stuff pales by comparison.

"Brothers In Arms" - Dire Straits.  Needed a Knopfler fix...

@bdp24

There is some variability of SQ, particularly within Holland, but all three SACDs sound fine. I haven’t yet compared them to other new and old versions I have on LP. Without revealing specifics, Acoustic Sounds mentions that most but not all their BB releases are from original master tapes. There is controversy on other forums about the surround mix on Sunflower, but apparently no foul in stereo. I bought the SACDs instead of the LP versions because with my current digital set-up I slightly prefer MoFi SACDs to their 45 RPM vinyl counterparts.

last night...

Pieta Brown "One and All", an overlooked gem. Sonics close to reference quality.
Jeff Buckley "Grace", ORG/lp

today...

Dave Mason "Alone Together" , MCA/180gr/lp
Country Joe & The Fish "Electric Music for the...". lp
Keb' Mo' "S/T", Pure Pleasure/lp
Jethro Tull "Catfish Rising", UK/lp

AC DC. Live. LP
Guess Who.  American Woman. LP
Aerosmith. Toys in the Attic.  LP

Little Feet, Waiting for Columbus.
"Willin" is simply a classic. Also recorded by Linda Ronstadt.

Steve Miller
Heard way too much of Fly Like an Eagle back when it first hit. The lab where I worked played a local AM station all day long. The several hits from that album and Book of Dreams got pounded to death. Never bought either as a result.  BUT around 40 years later, have to admit these are some good albums although my preference for Steve’s music is more for his first 5 albums, as uneven as they can be.

Nice interview here (3 parts) that my bro in law turned me onto....

ghosthouse,

Great post, thanks for the links. Like you, I am not big fan of Miller. But he has some great hits that will live on. I recently played his greatest hits out by the pool with friends. His groove is refreshing every now and then.

Today I  listened to Wishbone Ash, Just Testing.... I found a great link of them performing "Living Proof".

jafant,

Not a big GNR fan but Slash ranks high on my guitar hero list.

Hey Nutty - Not sure what hits collection you were playing.  The 2 compilations that I like (they focus on pre-Fly Like an Eagle) are Steve Miller Band - Anthology and Steve Miller Band - The Best of 1968 - 1973.

Good reminder on Wishbone Ash.  I will have to dig into them.  Have some OLD vinyl that was/is my wife's but they never hooked me.  Still, worth trying again.  One of the first bands to feature twin leads.

haha - I gave jafant some grief about GnR over on The Minority Report.  Hope he doesn't mind.
ghosthouse,

Regarding Steve Miller, I have..Steve Miller Band, Young Hearts,
Complete Greatest Hits, CD..2003...22 tracks.

Steve Walsh "Glossolalia"
This album is a masterpiece in my opinion, but then again I am an extremely biased Kansas fan from way back!
Here is a couple of cuts I picked out, but the whole album is solid from start to finish!

A RL version of Led Zeppelin ll which I just bought last week from a local used record store. Other than some scratches at the end of Thank You, it's in very good condition and incredibly dynamic.
