Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"

Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@slaw

What Mingus album would any of you suggest for a beginner?

The BG-mastered are probably the best sounding, but pricey. A million pressings of this. I would say it’s a top20 all-time jazz classic:  You probably know "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" from Jeff Beck"...this is the OG.

That's his album I've seen mentioned most often for years . Thanks Spencer.

Hilary Hahn - Paris

  • Prokofiev - Concerto For Violin And Orchestra No. 1 In D Major Op. 19
  • Chausson - Poème Op. 25 For Violin And Orchestra
  • Rautavaara - Deux Sérénades

Mikko Franck conducting Orchestre Philharmonique De Radio France
Deutsche Grammophon 2LP 45rpm 2021

Puttin' on Jack White "Fear of the Dawn" again after implementing some of my newest cleaning regimen.

Listening to side one, though the surface noise has diminished dramatically, the lp sounds compressed to me . Have to turn volume to 3 for it to start really rockin'.

Pino Palladino/ Blake Mills "Notes With Attachments"

Logan Sama / Fabriclive.83    (again...)

István Kertész conducts Dvořák - Symphony No. 5 In F Major / Overture "My Home". The London Symphony Orchestra. London 1967

The Crusaders - Scratch (live), nice Japanese pressing.

@slaw Steve I would second Mingus Ah Um.

@reubent - "Spike" is still one of my favorites from Elvis Costello

McDonald & Giles / ST

Wings / Wings At The Speed Of Sound
1976 Capitol

Excellent LP, SQ. Uncontrollable urge to crank it up for “Beware My Love”.

Charlie / No Second Chance
1977 Janus

A favorite record, extra fun with headphones.

Gerry Rafferty / City To City
1978 United Artists

Played the dickens out of this back in the day and it just keeps sounding better and better.

Dire Straits / S-T
1978 Warner Bros.

Really a great LP. SQ, near or at wow level. “Six Blade Knife”, more wow.

@slaw thanks for the Calexication. Planning to stream "Carried to Dust" later.

Yes, I found some NOS cables no longer made, that I have always admired by Tel Wire. Steve Dobbins @xactaudio hooked me up and was fantastic to work with. He set me up with HC power cable w/20amp connector for my Krell, 2 other PCs, pair of XLR cables for phono>pre, & speaker cables.
