Just a quick check in with a little New Orleans flavor:

Jon Cleary   Dyna-Mite

He recently performed at a small venue/bar not to far from here as the kickoff of his first tour in over 1 1/2 years. So much fun to attend with about 200 others.

FYI - Uber is doing fine.  He was over Saturday listening to some tunes and checking out some recent changes.
Santana “Borboletta”
New OL Enterprise Mk4 tonearm arrived Friday. Will need some time for wiring to settle a little but really enjoying the Madake on it currently.

The Modern Jazz Quartet “The Last Concert”
The LA Four “The LA 4“

@dayglow i just picked this album up at my local used record store.  This album is visually in very good shape and there was no surface noise on the first side of the double album (all I have listened to currently).  The dynamics were good but not quite at the level of quality current day pressings.  Overall a worthwhile listen that was very engaging so far.
@uberwaltz Visited Yesterday and Today records for RSD.
Today went to Wolfson Records and just focused on the Jazz section.  Made it about half way through...
Brand X “Livestock”

Went out to Record Store Day and found this mint copy in the used section.
@dayglow
I agree it’s a great album. I have my original that I purchased in 1976 as well as this reissue that I purchased at a Dave Mason concert at a small local theater a few years ago.  Rick
@bkeskeThe nice part about the mono cartridge is the conical or spherical stylus does not require you to vary the VTA/SRA adjustment.  Once you have it aligned in its own head shell it’s just a matter of adjusting the VTF as you pointed out.  Picked up about 30 mono pressings of 1940s and 50s mono classical recordings in a lot purchase. Most are Westminster pressings and very nice.  These are much more enjoyable with my 2M mono

Yes Peter is in the Catskills just outside of NY city.  Hard hit area and brought SoundSmith to a near halt for a very extended time.  Peter was worried his company might not survive the shut down so even though it might be a little slow SoundSmith is a jewel to this crazy hobby IMHO and when reasonably possible we should support them.

No your gift was well targeted. Both favorite groups and albums I did not have in the collection. My taste crosses many Genres.  Saw the later version of Deep Purple in concert a couple of times as well as Steve Morse and the Dixie Dreggs again just last year.
No I left him to become entangled all by himself. Just the stone in the ditch alignment is all I helped on...
The new arm on the AVID was playing pretty sweetly.  Maybe it will provide post mower trauma therapy later this evening.
@slaw very nice but visually accessible on the outside of the platter like my Origin Live table. Ubers AVID has them under the platter with a little alignment pin and a lot of blind tactile manipulation. Sounds similar to his lawn mower...

Reset my antiskate last night using a newly arrived “WallySkater”. The change it dictated from my “setting by ear” was an increase. Initially sounded fuller but with diminished top end extension.  I have always found anti skate and SRA to have audible interaction so I increased the VTA/SRA adjustment on the OL Illustrious mk3c by, eventually, 1.5mm.  I’m really enjoying the new presentation.  More solid image with extension in treble and base that is very satisfying.  If always found the final step of setting SRA by ear and AntiSkate by ear leaves two variables dancing together that I tended to optimize one off were the other was thought to sound best.  Having a better guide on one allows the setting by ear of the SRA to be producing a different but possibly more enticing presentation.  This is going to be a fun tool to have for future cartridge swaps as I get better at using it and to set up the new OL Enterprise Mk4 tonearm that’s enroute from England.
Nice price and fresh rebuild so basically new with reasonable future rebuilds possible.
Not sure who the coordinator for the show was, but most of the vendors (about 15) were located within 60 miles.

From vinyl show today.  One of the few that we’re not overpriced.

The Miyajima Madake has now gone over 50 hours and I did a full reset on the setup.  Experienced many changes during breakin, but now it has become what I had hoped it would.  Detail and density that is quite different from my other cartridges. Full musical immersion.
