Camel / Mirage

Steven Wilson remaster of Tull / This Was.  I have to say I'm very happy with all of the Wilson remasters I've purchased.

Yeah Steve, on a headphone amp I couldn’t be without it. I’m glad it’s working for you!

The Beach Boys / Surfer Girl
2014 Capitol, orig. 1963

slaw, just picked up nice quality Mirage - great album.  Treble somewhat tipped up but still a good listen.  On the hunt for other Camel on vinyl but not easy to find.  Which do you have?

@pkatsuleas

You inspired me to dig out a long forgotten Moonmadness copy. Also have Rain Dances and The Snow Goose. You have others besides Mirage?

 Camel / Moonmadness
1976 Janus

@bslon

Nope, just Mirage right now.  Would buy more if I could find them.  Might try discogs.  I've been on a big prog kick lately.  It makes sense to me to enjoy it on vinyl for that back in the day feel.

Feel The Benefit could go a lot longer…

@whitefishpoint1175 Welcome to the best thread on Audiogon.  No politics, no bashing each other, just a nice place to share our enjoyment of vinyl.

I’ve been trying to pick up as many good blues albums as I can. This is one of my latest acquisitions

WOW! Now that is BIG.

@bkeske

Richard Thompson - Still. Fantasy 2LP 45rpm. 2015

Great album! Saw him play it live unaccompanied. He opened for much of Wilco's tour that year, after Tweedy produced Still.

Thompson's live SBD recordings are plentiful pirate treats, too.

For those of you that enjoy female jazz vocals, I encourage you to check out Cécile McLorin Salvant - Ghost Story.  I streamed it on Qobuz this morning and have placed my order for the vinyl.  There's a purple vinyl version available on her record label's website - Nonesuch.

@big_greg Yes, Salvant is awesome;-) James and Spencer turned me on to her….very well recorded on digital, should also translate well to LP.

Patti Page - Indiscretion ( Mercury SR 600 59 PP period pressing, fresh off a cycle on Degritter )

Happy Saturday to all !

welcome new posters to this great thread

Jim

The Sundays - Reading, Writing And Arithmetic. Geffen reissue, 180g, 2018, originally 1990

@sbank

Great album! Saw him play it live unaccompanied.

Yep Spencer, last night was one of those nights, everything sounded incredible, including Still. I really like Richard’s guitar playing on that LP. Great recording.

Spurred me to purchase Electric last night on Discogs, new and sealed.

oh Brian , I remember playing that Gabriel for the first time on the KEF 105.2…. fun….

The Tony Rice Unit - Backwaters

@tomic601

oh Brian , I remember playing that Gabriel for the first time on the KEF 105.2…. fun….

Might be my favorite Gabriel solo release. But, I find most of them to be a bit inconsistent in regards to SQ.

Side 2 will have to wait, as I forgot the Berlin Philharmonic is on live, so a bit of a break to watch them.

Agree, i think So is probably the best sonics…but i don’t have everything….

i also love Plays Live. played LOUD…..

Shaking the Tree….

As a result of streaming, I ordered this on lp....

Marianne Faithful "Broken English"

Catchup breakfast w fellow audiophile brother in Law followed by used LP bin diving at Spin Records in Carlsbad. I found three, all grade NM- visually but will go for a ride in the Degritter…

Jennifer Warnes - S/T

Leo Kottke - Greenhouse

Schumann Concerto in A Minor, Chicago w Van Cliburn and Fritz Reiner, ( RCA LSC 2455, recorded 1960 )….

Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance. Fire Records reissue/remaster 2018, originally 1978

R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction / Reconstruction Of The Fables. I.R.S. Records 1985

Bob Weir & Wolf Bros / Live in Colorado

Brian(s), Just picked this one up. Not sure if you were aware of this 2021 release or not. Very good though!

Cold and rainy here, going to get a few hours of very enjoyable listening tonight starting with this gem:

Bill Evans-You Must Believe In Spring 1981 WB

Followed by:

Lou Donaldson-Lou Takes Off 2010 BN/Music Matters 45rpm

Charles Lloyd-Manhattan Stories 2021 RSD Resonance Records (KPG*)

Ordered these and they arrived while I was at Mammoth Mountain this past week. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Acoustic Sounds Series. Very nicely done. Gregg Allman - Laid Back Analogue Productions/QRP Great album and great production from AP/QRP. Beth Hart - A Tribute To Led Zeppelin Excellent selections of Zep songs and well done by Beth, with an outstanding band. SQ is very good but not audiophile grade. If you are a fan of Beth this is a must-have. Turn it up!
