Hey @dayglow ,

I've come to appreciate your way of listing and evaluating in a succinct manner. Just can't get use to the playing of only one side. 😊

Hey Steve,

That is a great album from Brian Eno. If you haven't heard "Tiger Mountain", check that one out as well.

@boxer12

Great album, as is Before and After Science, and Another Green World.

@slaw Thx! I play 1 side to get as much variety of music genres in a single listening session. This also is helping me get through my entire vinyl collection at a faster rate. I will then be able to decide on upgrades and toss outs giving my vinyl collection complete organization.

Will do you all .

"Baby's On Fire" is a heck of a song,!

Got Purple Mountains streaming now.....

Also ordered the other lps I was missing by Silver Jews.

+1 @slaw

Standing Hampton is one of my favorite pop/rock recordings from the 1980's.

I completely agree Brian!

+1 Steve

Wooden Wand & The Vanishing Voice / The flood

a bit in arrears..

Gillian Welch - Soul Journey

Ann Armstrong / Steve Hughes - I Go to Pieces

Valerie Carter - Just a Stones Throw Away

finishing up with

Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate ( 50 th )….

seems appropriate….

Tim,

I need to check out that boxset you are fond of by the Can guy.

Hey Steve,

I like it A LOT. It is also recorded very well. Keep in mind though that it's a little out there, so... If you can stream it first, it may save you some disappointment. I checked Tidal & unfortunately it's not there. It may be on some of the others though.

Supporting the people of Ukraine today

Theodore Kuchar concucts Khatchaturian - Concerto For Violin And Orchestra (1940) & Concerto-Rhapsody For Violin And Orchestra (1961). National Symphony Orchestra Of Ukraine, Mihaela Martin violin. Naxos 2003

Yes, streaming it, please forgive.

Live music last night - Judy Collins.  Age is starting to catch up to her (she's 82!) but her voice is strong and she had a lot of great stories and of course is still campaigning for peace.

Listening to Bob Dylan - Highway 51 Revisited.  I know he's not for everyone, but this is a fantastic album.

@jerryg123 prayers for your wife's family and all her countrymen.

catchin' up a bit...

Just arrived, gotta spin it.

Paul and Linda McCartney - Ram. Columbia/MPL reissue 1980, originally 1971

Not sure if correct venue for this, but:

Looking for suggestions for piano music that is hauntingly beautiful, eg: Jackson Berkey Sunken Cathedral, and the like. Just want to broaden my horizons.

Thanks to all.

+1 Ram  I first bought that in 1971, right after it was released.  I think I was a Senior in high school at the time.  It was played much too often on my parents Magnavox console.  Sometime after getting my first hi-fi system I bought a reissue, that one being on Apple Records.  Not realizing I still had that excellent condition copy, about 2 years ago I bought the latest Capitol Records / MPL 2012 & 2017 reissue.  I'll have to play both of them to see, out of curiosity, which one may sound better.

Enjoy the Ram album, Brian.  Always has been a treasure of music for me.

Cowboy Junkies - Black Eyed Man

@sailmed perfectly appropriate post… the “ oracle “ will have inputs i am sure….

I am thinking something in the Windham Hill school ( if that’s even a thing ) like maybe George Winston or Liz Story….. ?

@mammothguy54

Enjoy the Ram album, Brian.  Always has been a treasure of music for me.

I will Joel. For whatever reason, I never bought that album, but knew friends that had it, and listen to it on their system. Had a later 70’s McCartney/Wings album but must have sold it….but…if I wanted one McCartney LP in my collection, Ram is it. And maybe his next, Band On The Run; the first Wings album IIRC.

Ram is a very Beatlesque album, but, after spinning it, was surprised the SQ isn’t better. Songs are great, the recording and engineering….not so much. Glad to have it though.

@tomic601 the “oracle”?   Start where you like on YouTube and let the algorithm take you where it will?

Very excited about the latest arrival. Vinyl Me Please "The Story of Philadelphia International Records" box.

All albums had lacquers cut at BG Mastering from the original tapes. AAA all the way. Pressed at QRP.

Everything about the materials and presentation is first class. Even the packing tape on the outer shipping carton has special shipping tape with advertisement of the contents. I thought it was somewhat pricey but having experienced just the unboxing, worth it!!!

Grateful Dead-Skull and Roses 1971 OG WB

Got some surface noise and a few thousand spins on it, but I still enjoy the heck out of it. Wharf Rat and Not Fade Away never disappoint. Was fortunate to see both of these songs performed live quite a few times. Great memories!

Followed by:

Saunders/Garcia-Live At Keystone 1973 Fantasy Records

Steve,

That looks like a great box set! Never heard of that label so checked them out. They have a lot of good stuff!

j_husker,

I was also fortunate to see them play many times. I doubt there will ever be another band like them.

Pere Ubu / Modern dance

Tim,

Their prices are a little higher than others. Have to pay attention to who remasters/source/& pressing plant on what they offer as they are all different. You can acquire points which helps.

Nice box, Steve. I've bought several albums from Vinyl Me Please, all first rate.

Now playing:

Massive Attack, "Mezzanine"

Congrats on nice box set Steve !

catching up;

JJ Cale - Troubadour and then “5”

Rare Earth - "In Concert"

The "Backpack" is still one of my favorite record jackets of all time. And it just a great live album.
