@sbank +1 for Tom Waits! My favorite from him is typically whichever one I'm listening to at the time. 😁 A lot of bands are like that for me though.

Depeche Mode / Construction time again

some fine, fine tunes being played…. I snuck in some hard drive surfing before an upcoming zoom call….duty calls.

Man, Steve that is a pile o vinyl !

Bill - Laid Back is perfect ;-)

The Go Go's - "Beauty and the Beat"

From the cull decision pile. Trying to decide. Does it stay, or does it go?

So, I'm keeping The Go Go's - "Beauty and the Beat". It's better than I remembered, and it nostalgic, from a fun time in my life.

Up now:

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - "American Dream"

Dire Straits / Communique + Brothers in Arms

Pat Benatar / Crimes of Passion

Le Forte Four “Bikini Tennis Shoes” etas-unis 2017 reissue of Los Angeles Free Music Society 1975 release

Peter Brotzmann/Heather Leigh “Sparrows Nights” Trost Austria 2018

Wolfgang Sawallisch conducts Schubert - The Complete Symphonies. Staatskapelle Dresden. Philips 5LP box reissue 1972, originally 1967

Newly arrived and spinning:

Dave Douglas Quintet - Be Still featuring Aoife O’ Donovan

Pressed on 180 g, cut from 24 x 96 digital master. Nice sonics.

I had that sweet album on CD Jim, never imagining it also would have come out on a record. Just found a sealed copy and the seller had other things on my list so I saved on shipping.  I sound like Lucy telling Ricky “But I got it on sale”….

Donald Fagen-The Nightfly 1982 WB

James Taylor-JT 1977 Columbia

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers-Indestructible 2019 Blue Note

Got an email today with tracking for the Art Blakey-Live in Scheveningen 1958 from The Lost Recordings label. Ordered this a while ago and I had forgotten about it. Pumped to get that spinning when it shows up! Acoustic Sounds shows it as backordered right now, so they had more pre-orders than they could fill. Glad I got in on that!

James - I got it from a Discogs seller Purepop115 ;-) Glad you picked it up. Very enjoyable. Something in my system is power bumping tge NAIM into shutdown / restart. PITA to tear down the nook to isolate but that is my task tommorow….no more music tonight….upside is this will get me off A to install the hospital grade Hubbels i have had sitting here for a year….

Hey guys... I've been out skiing and have had a blast.  I'll be back at it again, soon.

Yes indeed, I am a die-hard skier!

Nevertheless, I have also been spinning some vinyl and comparing between two phono cartridges.  My Lyra Delos, which I have thought to be having a problem, and a Nagaoka MP-110 that Jim (tomic) lent me for the trouble shooting process.  I believe that I have some conclusions, but more to follow.  However, the good news is that I will truly test out everything (phono stage, in particular) because my new turntable/tonearm/cartridge has finally all arrived off of backorder and is being set up today/tomorrow.  I should be able to pick it up by later Thursday afternoon.  Thus, I will have it all here for setting it up in my system Friday morning and begin the cartridge run-in process.

Feickert Analog, model Blackbird, turntable.  Kuzma, model 4-Point 11, tonearm.  Soundsmith, model Sussurro MKii ES, phono cartridge.  This is a really big upgrade for me and I hope it will provide many years (the rest of my life) of analog pleasure.

Spacemen 3 “Playing With Fire” Fire Records 1989

Featuring Otis Wilbury, Nelson Wilbury, Charlie T. jr, Lefty Wilbury, Lucky Wilbury and others lol!

The Doobie Brothers - The Captain and Me

Congrats on the new table Joel, that sounds like a sweet setup!

@mammothguy54

Wonderful Joel! Keep us posted after you get everything setup. Nice rig indeed!

Joel - Fantastic news ;-) As you know, I have listening time w both the Dr. Feickert and Kuzma 9” 4 point arm but w a Lyra…and i was very impressed. I think w Soundsmith rebuild value, you are indeed setup for a lifetime of analog bliss and joy !

IF anyone needs a loaner cart for diagnostic work or a hot spare during rebuild, let me know. When Joel is done w MP-110. Fun

Jim

My order from Townshend Audio arrived this week. A pair of Podiums and two sets of Pods. I've spent years evaluating different isolation devices and have made my own versions. I know how much these things can allow the listener to become more engaged with the music/event. So, I'm just as excited to install these items as I would be any component. My plan is to put the Pods under each shelf of my wall mounting system.

Another arrival,
