The War On Drugs – Slave Ambient
Glen Hansard - "Drive All Night" Again! Thanks to @astro58go for recommending this back in 2016. |
Listening to New York Stories Vol 1 right now. Danny Gatton on guitar is just killing it! My favourite recording featuring him ever, which is saying a lot considering his catalogue. Of course it doesn't hurt that he shares the stage with heavyweights like Bobby Watson, Charles Fambrough and others It's a shame there was never a Vol 2 |
Lou Rawls-All Things in Time Side 1 SQ Audiophile Judas Priest-Unleased In The East Side 2 Van Morrison & The Chieftains-Irish Heartbeat Side B SQ Audiophile Gary Morris-Plain Brown Wrapper Side 1 SQ Audiophile Bryd/Kessel/Ellis-Great Guitars At The Winery(CJ-131) Side 1 Sea Level-Ball Room Side 2 SQ Audiophile The Bernie Leadon/Michael Georgiades Band-Natural Progressions Side 2 SQ* Frank Sinatra-Come Fly With Me(Capitol SW 920) Side 1 All recordings were above average regarding SQ. Unexpectedly Concord Jazz was the weakest recording maybe due to the live recording. *Leadon/Georgiades would have the SQ crown but the vocals were to recessed. The SQ champ tonight goes to Lou Rawls. Everything was in balance and the vocal/instrument separation was excellent.

Do you have that on vinyl? I don't see a vinyl release on Discogs. I also checked to see if it was on Spotify, but couldn't find it. I do see it on YouTube. Guess I'll stream it through YouTube, then buy it on CD if I love it. Thanks for the recommendation...

@sbank - Hey Spencer, been streaming Robbie Robertson - "How to Become Clairvoyant" and like it pretty well on first listen. Now have a Mint/Sealed copy coming via a Discogs purchase. Thanks for the recommendation... |
Hey Brian… Great LP, a lot to like. My copy is high mileage, happy to see somebody else playing it too. Love the music (hippie genre, haha?), song titles (Fried Hockey Boogie!), band members’ nicknames. Their music was a major omission from the Easy Rider soundtrack IMO, On The Road Again shoulda been there. |
@dredison - Listening to New York Stories Vol 1 now on YouTube. Really good stuff. |
Canned Heat has always been a fav of mine. I need to get the whole collection, and working on it, only have 3 rights now. 2 of which I've had since the mid-70's. Great band, but when The Bear, Bob Hite, died, that was pretty much the end. At least for me. Larry Taylor, on bass, also recorded extensivly with John Mayall, another fav from that time. But, I tell'ya, that Butterfield Blues Band Album I have just kicks serious butt too. The SQ is really really good. I really need to dig in and find some others from them, or, some other albums Paul Butterfield released. If that album is any indication, they did a splendid job recording and engineering their albums. |
@sbank Thanks for the heads up about "The Roaches" album @femoore12 +1 for "Recordings" Steve, Hope everything is going well with you! Fire! / (without noticing) |
@koogle - Welcome to the best thread on AudiogoN! Thanks for your response. Keep 'em coming... |
