Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@reubent  +1 Billy Bragg. I meant to play it tonight. Gave it a new outer sleeve an' all.

Reubent, I have a hard time picking a favorite from this band. Kind of strange because they change their style often. If you get a chance check out their "Trip" album from 2020. They do a wonderful job covering Wilco's song, "reservations".

Lambchop / Nixon

@big_greg  - The Nick Lowe show was a barn-burner. One of several acts now on my "100 mile" list. If they are playing, within 100 miles, I'm going...

I love these kind of "low budget" shows. No frills show. Just the artist. Small theater. Small ticket price!

@boxer12  - I do need to listen to more of the Lambchop catalog. The only ones I've tried are the ones you've mentioned here over the years. Thanks for the reminder.

@noromance  - Good on you! Treat that Billy Bragg record with some respect! The copy I just purchased at Plaid Room Records is a cutout and has a gold promo stamp on it. The Hollies, Pete Townshend and Daniel Lanois records are also promo. Someone must have been shopping at a radio station ex-inventory sale...

Holly Golightly And The Brokeoffs – Nobody Will Be There (Damaged Goods 2011)

Gene & Debbe – Hear & Now (TRX 1968)

Seth Austen – The Road O’er The Rainbow (Banish Misfortune Records And Publications 1981)

Jody Miller – Queen Of The House (Capitol 1965)

Sweet kid with fab voice. Kinda Skeeter Davis. Perfect early Sixties music.

Susan Pillsbury – Susan Pillsbury (Sweet Fortune 1973)

A gem of an album.

@sbank thanks for sharing The Weight ;-)

Continuing this set this evening. Last night was a wash-out. I finally have given in to the fact that I have to get a new Mac computer for my work. Been using a 2009 Mac Pro for a very long time, and love that old box. Have Frankensteined it to keep it in business over the past few years……But, am finally being forced to upgrade, and have an iMac arriving tomorrow. I’ve been so entrenched with my set-up ‘as-is’, there is a lot of preparation work involved with this new addition. What a pain in the butt.

Got through Symphonies 1-4 a couple nights ago, so getting through 5-7 should be easy to do.

Sir Colin Davis conducts Sibelius - The 7 Symphonies (with Finlandia Op. 26/Der Schwan Von Tuonela Op. 22,2/Tapiola Op. 112). Boston Symphony Orchestra. Philips reissue 5LP box set. unknown release, originally 1977.

Tom - ha, yes i could be accused of that…P-8 Navy sub hunter built in a factory i had a bit part in…..funny

Brian K - We have two imac, one dates to 2013 ish….the other maybe 2 years..love em both….

Im sure I’ll like it Jim. Just as in my audio set-up, I’ve preferred separates in my computer work rig, and never liked the restraint the iMac’s seemed to be as an ‘all in one’ solution. I’ll get over it, and accept an integrated computer 😁

Jim, indeed. The lovely Webb sisters. The DVD is essential and I prefer the vibe to LP to be honest.

Nat King Cole / The Christmas Song

The Doors / Morrison Hotel

Pink Floyd / Meddle

Willie Nelson / Stardust

Staying with Sibelius….

Paavo Berglund conducts Sibelius - Kullervo & Incidental Music To Strindberg's "Swanwhite". Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra / Helsinki University Mens Choir. Angel 2LP box 1971

Fleetwood Mac / Kilnhouse
1970 Reprise

Brian, Jim, this Mac never gets old… ;-)

Great music been spinning with all of you.  Well, remember that issue I had with phono cartridge?  It just keeps getting worse.  To the point that playing records is not so good and with little enjoyment.  The good news is that I am about to pull the trigger on a new turntable/tonearm/cartridge.  However, there will be a wait as only the tonearm and cartridge are in stock and the turntable is at least 2 weeks out, possibly longer by the time I make the purchase.  So, I'll play a few records and enjoy the best I can.  Foolishly, I sold all of my old phono cartridges so I'm not able to make a swap.

Enjoy the music.  I'll be back.

Joel - I can send you my spare Nagagoka MP-110, a shockingly good budget cartridge…..easy, just say tge word and it will go out today. Lyra offer free tuneup, i am guessing your suspension wire needs retension and or paper replaced…
