The Incredible Jimmy Smith / Back At The Chicken Shack

There's A LOT of good music out there. But right here, right now..... this is working for me.

YMMV (as can mine)

thrive

Charles Mingus - Mingus  Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus.. Got the Analog Production release today and yeah...just amazing!

That stuff I said earlier about Jimmy Smith.
I think I meant to say....The Kinks / Face To Face

Carry On

a bit in arrears:

Patty Griffin - River and Silver Bell

Eva Cassidy - Songbird

Dire Straits - S/T 45 rpm Mofi

Getz / Gilberto - 45 rpm AAP.... super lovely...

sorry for confusion..in my quest to pare down the gear pile, i am evaluating the heavily modified MC240 " family heirloom " as a replace-for my RM-9.... Paring down is a B... argh...

Varying degrees of satisfaction delivered, but still spinning.

Dusty Springfield / The Look of Love.

Jim,

You should collect cartridges. They take a lot less room 😁

My Morning Jacket / It still moves

@bkeske I had checked out 'Richard Thompson - Rumor And Sigh'.

Really liked it. Added to my library. Looking forward to exploring the album. Thanks.

@rohitharsh

@bkeske I had checked out 'Richard Thompson - Rumor And Sigh'.

It's pretty good, but I do prefer some his other LP's. Rumor And Sigh was produced to be a 'commercial hit' for Richard, especially in the US. And in that, relative to his other releases, it was. Regardless, still a very good album, and happy it is in my vinyl collection.

Tim - on the surface I love the phono cartridge strategy, however with my preference that they be attached to tonearms... another rabbit hole... ha. I believe I could use a Kuzma 4 point.... ha

Bodeans - Love and Hope and Sex and Dreams (that covers it, doesn't it?)

@bkeske Richard is fantastic live. Opening for Wilco, he silenced a schmoozing crowd in record time!

It’s hard for me to believe I’ve never seen him live. Have been a Fairport fan from back in the early/mid 70’s. If I ever see him around and close-by, I’ll definitly check him out. I think he is one of those that is getting better with age. Or maybe I’m trying to make myself feel better getting old myself 😁

I have been fortunate to catch RT live now in a variety of venues from Benaroya hall in Seattle to the 300 ish seat Belly Up in Solana Beach...fantastic each time... I highly recommend him. Spinning Rumor and Sigh...MoFi

Pulp – Different Class (Music On Vinyl 2011 180g RP [1995])

The best pop album of all time.

Norah Jones / Pick Me Up Off The Floor

2020 Blue Note/Columbia

Fabulous SQ, great LP

Agree that those Patricia Barber LP's set a high sonic bar. Added a 45rpm version a while back--OMG. That Norah Jones record was a pleasant surprise.

Right on Bill - as far as my taste goes, Norah could read a Ukranian phone book and I would probably buy a recording....

Tony Joe White - Homemade Ice Cream - AAP 45 Rpm, man this has jump factor...

"I believe I could use a Kuzma 4 point.... ha"

Myself as well Jim (4 arms are just not enough :-)

Captain Beefheart / Brown wrapper

Not sure why, but this album kept coming into my mind to play....so, here goes...play it very very rarely

Yes - Close To The Edge. Atlantic 1972

@tomic601

Lol Jim!

FYI, Norah Jones has a 'country' band called The Little Willies, worth a streaming listen. I bought the LP just because. It gets played here.

Pretenders - S/T caught them live on this tour, smaller hall....just a freaking blast....

Bill - I have For the Good Times by the Little Willies, need to revisit that....thx for reminder...

MS 6050 Not one of my better sounding Six Eyes maybe the scuffs? Still a near Audiophile level recording. The bass on Chicago VI was excellent, a very well balanced recording.
