@bkeske, I couldn’t agree more, I feel I could’ve written that.
@slaw, same here but use a Sony HAP to stream Spotify. Love this thread for new music recommendations.
FM……. Brian

But i agree, Love the NAIM streamer at the Condo, less so the Blue Sound even tho a bit hotrodded…finding new music, avoiding stuff i might buy on impulse on Discogs…etc…

SOTA is boxed and will travel South w us ….so server and streamer this eve….
Good travels South, Jim.

I’m feeling left out of the streaming DAC crowd! I tried Tidal HiFi for a year but SQ was subpar through the laptop.

Just like @big_greg, I stream so that I can listen before I buy the vinyl. I use this thread as input for my streaming and then decide if I want to purchase the vinyl. You are all very helpful there!

I was fortunate enough to buy an Innuos Zen Mini Mk 3 and a Denafrips Aries II DAC. Very happy with both purchases. I have a lifetime subscription to Roon but Innuos now has their own streaming app that supports both Tidal and Qobuz.

The other feature of the Zen Mini is the internal hard drive which lets you rip CDs which are then available in your library. I don’t have many CDs but I have purchased a few when there is no vinyl available.
I listen to vinyl about 70% of the time.
Haven't tried streaming yet but it seems like a good idea. My excuse is I'm an old guy.

Jim, Steve, I think you would like this one
I'm with Brian about having physical media.  I do intend to add a digital front end at some point.  And for the same reasons as outlined by several, above.  Analog, physical media still rules in my life.

That said, yest Steve, I still want to upgrade my analog rig.  I'm just not satisfied with what I have and yearn for another level up.  That, I feel confident, will be my last analog rig (though I will likely add a second tonearm for cartridge options, etc.).  I am looking at upgrading my speakers first, and then the decision on the analog rig.  Like I said, I am not getting any younger...

@bkeske-Brian, it’s amazing me as well.  I’d forgotten I had many of these records.  As I mentioned, “30 years since they had seen daylight” was a bit conservative.  Actually it’s been more like 35 years.

Equally amazing is how well the vinyl has held up.  I didn’t expect miracles given my previous turntables/cartridges were very brutal to the grooves.  But I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Turns out many of the UK pressings withstood the torture better than some of the  US pressings.

Oh, a big + for Siouxsie
Donald Fagen's The Nightfly Live. I continue to be unimpressed by UMe vinyl. I could barely get the vinyl out of the inner sleeve. I'm surprised I didn't tear it. Once I did it was covered in paper dust. I gave it a spin on the VPI record cleaner and then a US cleaning and so far it is playing nicely.
@mammothguy54, Thanks for the evaluation of “MLOR”.  Was probably maybe going to get it anyway but that was just the encouragement I needed.  Hope for a good 4 sides.

@Boxer12, Hey Tim!  I saw Marissa Nadler perform here in one of our medium sized venues just prior to the lockdown.   She was really good at using electronics.  Loops and effects.   I guess she’s almost famous.
@slaw

Steve, if you do subscribe to a streaming service do yourself a favor and get a dedicated streamer and take the computer/phone/tablet out of the chain. No hope of music sounding very good unless you do.  I mean, even with a good DAC.

Here If You Listen

This album features Becca Stevens, my current major music crush, and the Lighthouse Band.  Amazingly good SQ.  It has that modern refined digital production sound but I really like it.
@jerryg123, that will give the system a good workout.  Dig that record man.  Good to have you posting here.

@boxer12,

I got in Ada Lea "What We Say in Private" a few weeks ago Tim. Really like it!
Playing a little hooky.
When I bought my Treo’s, literally thrown into the deal were a set of AudioQuest Comet bi-wire cables. Quite the deal as they went for 3-4K new. But, they had BFA banana connects on the amp side, which my old Belles binding posts will not accept. So, just arrived today were some AQ 300 spades to replace/install on them. Been running my 1950’s NOS Western Electric cables I had made for me. I’m going to keep these in for a while, but man, they sound very nice. There is some silver in the design, so they add a bit of sparkle and midrange clarity. To be decided whether they stay or not, but right now I’m pretty impressed, and makes the Treo deal all that much better. So, to check them out….

As good as they promise, tinned copper can't allow all the info through compared to OCC/OFC/silver etc.
