As I knew yesterday my day would be highly taken-over by football, so in the morning I went out and purchased a Debrox Earwax Removal Kit (pretty inexpensive, there are more expensive kits).
For some time now I’ve been curious and interested in seeing what effect something like this would have, as I have never had it done by a Doctor. So, I did a long sitting in each ear (about 45 minutes) before flushing, then two additional for smaller time periods.
I didn’t sense I had any issues before doing so, but what the heck, nothing lost in giving my ears a good cleaning internally. Cannot sense any great improvement, and wasn’t expecting that really, but it did feel ‘refreshing’, and perhaps a bit more clear. Even to a small degree.
I believe I’ll start to do this every three months or so, certainly cannot hurt.
Anyone else do this regiment on a regular basis?

Mehta conducts Bruch - Concerto No. 1 In G Minor For Violin And Orchestra, Op. 26 & Lalo - Symphonie Espagnole, Op. 21. Los Angeles Philharmonic with Pinchas Zukerman violin. Columbia Masterworks reissue , originally 1978.

Brian, I can't say that I have done that regimen. I use Q-tips after every shower and carefully dry my ears with them. They remain very clean.

contact cleaner, colored fuses, stones, Shaki sticks…and now ear cleaning kits….. 😁 Maybe I need several boxes stored in various places in my room. |
Jim, Good news brother! Did an oil, belt, & thrust bearing change on the table today. Now I'll spend the next 2 weeks "dialing it in" again :-)
Brian, I do the cleaning at 10 minutes per ear (a couple times a year) & clean them daily with q-tips. I also don't hear an improvement with the 6 month regiment, but still do it. Can't hurt.

Daniel Martin Moore – Turned Over To Dreams (Sofaburn 2017 45rpm)
Always love playing an album on the Quad ESL rig that I’ve only played on the Spendors to realize how much better my primary system is. Sweet close-miked and tender album. |

Reuben, Jeff Beck's Loud Hailer is playing right now at home at your suggestion. Got it a few months ago, along with some other later Beck recordings, and only played it that one time. Sounds even better the second time around.

I really like Jeff Beck's - "Loud Hailer". I've been enjoying it since it came out in 2017. The closing cut - "Shrine" is a GREAT closing tune. Any time you finish an album with a big smile on your face, you know the artist did something right. As "Shine" ended with Jeff Beck's simple guitar fade out, I had a huge uncontrollable grin on my face. Well done Jeff Beck... |
@noromance Isaac Stern 60th Anniversary Celebration A very enjoyable album. |
@skyscraper - Enjoy it. Let me know if "Shrine" left you with a smile on your face. |
@bkeske, Yes. And beautifully recorded with just enough live ambience.

Wide variety this evening...

The Kinks - Sleepwalker Blue Jays - untitled |
@bkeske,
I've been doing the ear cleaning for years Brian with great results at times. Every two/three months I use baby bulb syrenge and warm water. Have other "deep cleaning" methods as well.
|
Steve,
That is what the Debrox product is, an inexpensive bulb with its own solution. But, I'm sure I could also create my own solution with peroxide and water.
As we pay so much attention to all the miscellaneous details of our systems, seems silly not to make our own ears one of those items to get some attention and maintenance as well.
I also use q-tips after every shower, but have read that q-tips can also create problems, and cannot really get to the inner canal/ear drum itself, nor would you want them to do so.
|
Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Punch The Clock |
I've used Debrox solution but I think the peroxide works better , I still have to " POP " my ears at the beginning of every album to hear the higher frequencies .
